The Canon EOS R5 Mark II camera

The Canon EOS R5II is the next iteration of the widely popular Canon EOS R5 and retains many of the features that were attractive to underwater image makers. Firstly, and most excitingly video shooters now have access to 8K 60 Raw/4K 60 SRAW/4K 120 10-bit Video. The Canon EOS R5II retains its 45MP full-frame mirrorless sensor that utilizes Canon's new RF lens mount and also has next-generation Dual Pixel autofocus.

The Nauticam NA-R5II underwater housing for the Canon EOS R5 II

The NA-R5II underwater housing follows Nauticam's drive for innovation.

Mission control

The engineers at Nauticam are obsessed with providing the underwater photographer with unhindered access to all the necessary controls, as many of which as possible are within reach of the ergonomic, rubberised handles. This Mission Control philosophy also applies to the NA-R5II, which has a double thumb lever and a double lower lever on the right handle. The upper thumb lever activates the "AF-On" buttons and the lower one the "Q" buttons, while the lower lever corresponds to the "M-Fn" and "Record" buttons. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback" and a special switch to switch from using the LCD to the EVF.

Large and rubberised control dials allow access to the camera's main and secondary control dials. The two-stage shutter release enables smooth focussing and release. Additional buttons for "menu", "focus point selection" and others are also easily accessible from the grips.

An additional control wheel is located on the left side of the housing and can be connected to the control ring of the supported EF to EOS R mount adapter with control ring via the optional gearbox (NA19561).

Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system

The Nauticam vacuum control and leak detection electronics are part of the standard equipment of the NA-R5. In combination with an optional vacuum valve, this monitoring system constantly provides up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple, colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuit so that an audible and visual signal is emitted in the event of water ingress.

The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms due to changes in external temperature or heating of the camera during an action-packed dive.

M16 Vacuum Valve II
Installing vacuum valve to housing Remove the plug of the M16 accessory port from the housing. Remove the cap from the vacuum valve. Tighten the vacuum valve to the housing with the tool provided.   Building up vacuum Remove the cap of the vacuum valve. Connect the hand pump to the valve and pump several times until it reaches the target vacuum level. The LED light will turn flashing yellow while vacuum is building up, then steady green when the target vacuum level is reached. Attention: After the target vacuum is reached, i.e. steady green light, attach the cap back to the vacuum valve. It is recommended to leave the housing for at least 20mins to ensure it is sealed. If the LED light changes from steady green light to rapidly flashing yellow light, that means there is a leakage and please check every O-ring and conduct the vacuum test again. Please ensure that the cap is attached back to the vacuum valve before going underwater. Vacuum can be released by pushing the red release button. Attention: Please DO NOT attempt to go over the designated vacuum level, i.e. stop pumping when the LED turn green. Excessive vacuum level may lead to the malfunction of the camera and lens. Note: Although the vacuum indicator is designated to compensate for a certain amount of temperature variation, it is recommended to conduct the vacuum test in an environment where the temperature is stable.   After set up, the meaning of the LED indicator in the housing: Flashing “Blue” light: Standby mode. The moisture alarm is active, and the system is ready for vacuum indication whenever a vacuum is detected. Flashing “Red” light with beeping sound:Moisture is detected. Flashing “Yellow” light: Some vacuum is detected, target vacuum level is not reached. Steady “Green” light: Target vacuum level is reached. Rapidly flashing “Yellow” light: Vacuum is dropping. (Will occur only after target vacuum level is reached) Rapidly flashing “Red” light: Vacuum is totally lost. Circuit stalled until switched off. (Will occur only after target vacuum level is reached)

Manual Flash trigger for Canon
Flash emitters enable fast shooting sequences, perfect for fast motion sequences. The Nauticam NA-Ninja V, when used with supported housings and cameras, allows for the connection of the Ninja V over HDMI 2.0 in addition to providing easy access to the Ninja V controls underwater. Atomos Ninja V The Atomos Ninja V is an exceptional monitor, featuring a bright 1000 nit 10-bit HDR 5.2" screen that can display over 10 stops of dynamic range with compatible cameras. The monitor includes a variety of exposure and focus assist tools to insure your footage is properly exposed with critical focus. In addition to being an extremely capable monitor, the Ninja V is also a recorder. When used with compatible cameras over HDMI 2.0, the Ninja V can record 4K at 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes or DNxHR formats to Atomos AtomX SSDmini solid state drives. With a 1TB SSDmini drive, the Ninja V can record up to 150 minutes of 4K video. The Ninja V is easily mounted in the housing, dropping in without trays or other mounting accessories and is held in place by two rotating locking levers. The Ninja V features both an HDMI 2.0 input as well as an output and the NA-Ninja V supports both as well. With dual M28 bulkheads, a second HDMI cable can be run to another monitor. The Ninja V allows for the application of. cube format 3D LUTs to this output signal. The NA-Ninja V supports up to the NP-F970 size battery which provides up to two hours of run time. A CR-2032 battery powers the vacuum check and leak detection system. When used with the included Vacuum Valve, the system gives real-time feedback about the watertight integrity of the housing through an easily visible multi-color LED on the top of the housing. Access to the touchscreen controls of the Ninja V are handled via a series of buttons and a selector knob beneath the screen of the housing including PLAY, REC, MON, RGB, PEAK and the Muti-Selector Lever.

The Ninja V allows for the application of. cube format 3D LUTs to this output signal. The NA-Ninja V supports up to the NP-F970 size battery which provides up to two hours of run time. A CR-2032 battery powers the vacuum check and leak detection system. When used with the included Vacuum Valve, the system gives real-time feedback about the watertight integrity of the housing through an easily visible multi-color LED on the top of the housing. Access to the touchscreen controls of the Ninja V are handled via a series of buttons and a selector knob beneath the screen of the housing including PLAY, REC, MON, RGB, PEAK and the Muti-Selector Lever.
