eMWL 45° Relay Lens

This focus unit is part of Nauticam's eMWL. This unit is used by the macro lens to capture the virtual image of the lens and relay unit accurately and sharply. It cannot be used alone. The focus unit is attached to a suitable housing port with a bayonet connection (alternatively with the M67 to bayonet adapter II NA83250). The relay or lens unit is also attached with a bayonet Connection.

It's perfect for larger macro subjects or any image where you want to see more of the background. The image quality is on par with the best wide-angle lenses, so you can also use it for traditional wide-angle shots.  This lens attachment gives you a 130° field of view, is edge-to-edge sharp and minimises distortion.

Replaceable objective lens attachment for your eMWL system

Safely use both Nauticam's eMWL and another attachment lens with M67 screw thread during the dive. This practical swivel mount attaches to M67 screw threads of underwater housings or ports.

It's perfect for larger macro subjects or any image where you want to see more of the background. The image quality is on par with the best wide-angle lenses, so you can also use it for traditional wide-angle shots.  This lens attachment gives you a 160° field of view, is edge-to-edge sharp and minimises distortion.

The relay single-seam has been designed to the highest standard with 14 glass elements in 10 groups. The EMWL objective lenses create an inverted image so that it appears upside down. The relay unit corrects the inverted image and returns the image to the focusing unit and sensor. It is 150 mm long and only 62 mm wide at its widest point. This allows the front of the EMWL to be placed extremely close to your subject while keeping the bulk of the camera system and the photographer at a greater distance.

FOCUSING UNIT There are four focusing units designed to work with the EMWL: Nikon and Micro Four Thirds - Compatible with the Nikon AF-S VR Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED and Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f2.8 Macro. Without the relay lens, you will have an inverted image, but the overall length of the EMWL will be approximately 6.5 inches (164.5mm) shorter. The new eMWL (Extended Macro Wide Lens) from Nauticam is built to work with multiple common macro lenses and is optimised for both still images and video. It is a wet lens design, so the lens can be attached and removed underwater. This adds to the versatility of the whole system, and other accessories such as SMC and CMC macro converters can also be used. The eMWL as a modular system The eMWL has been developed as a modular design with three individual parts: the focusing unit, the relay module and the lens. Nauticam has developed components optimised to work with different camera manufacturers and their macro lenses, as well as a selection for three unique perspectives. Let's take a look at the individual parts and dive a little deeper into the eMWL. The complete eMWL System Objective lenses, 60°, 100°, 130° - Relay lens - Focusing unit eMWL focusing unit Three focusing units have been developed to ensure the best results on a range of cameras, and each unit is optically matched to the recommended prime lenses. The eMWL is very sharp and has very good contrast, the autofocus works very well.  This is a significant advantage compared to other available relay lenses. You also have the option of adding a manual focus gear. You can also use lens adapters such as the Nikon FTZ, EF to EOS R or the Sigma MC-21. The focusing unit is the part closest to your mount, it is designed with 6 glass elements in 3 groups and connects via the bayonet lock system. This allows the front of the eMWL to be placed extremely close to your subject, while keeping most of the camera system and the photographer at a greater distance. It also opens up creative ways for videographers to capture motion in tight spaces. Imagine poking through seaweed to expose a young batfish, or pulling back from a small object to show the nook where it lives. All three focusing units use the same relay lens. It is possible to use the eMWL without the relay lens if you do not need the extended working distance. But then a camera or monitor that can correct the inverted image in the electronic viewfinder or screen is advantageous. . eMWL lenses The last link to be attached to the front of the relay lens is the objective lens. There are three different versions with different angles of view. You choose one of the three depending on the look, the subject or the type of image you want to create. These, as well as the other lenses, are available in three different versions. These, as well as the other two parts, can all be assembled and disassembled underwater. You can keep all three lenses with you and replace them if necessary. You can shoot them just like any other lens, but the real magic happens when you get up close to your subject. All three lenses focus as close as the front element with the right setting. You could fill the largest part of the frame with a nudibranch and still have room for a diver in the background! The eMWL is a great tool to enhance your creativity. 130°-Objektiv (NA87223) This is the widest of the three objective lenses, designed with 9 elements in 7 groups. It is perfect for larger macro subjects or any image where you want to see more of the background. The image quality is on par with the best wide-angle lenses, so you can also use it for traditional wide-angle shots.  . 100°-Objektiv (NA87222) This is a äußerst versatile viewing angle. It is the smallest and slimmest in its physical size, making it a good choice for narrow subjects and tight spaces. It is designed with 9 elements in 6 groups. An angle of view of 100° is still plenty of background space for small macro subjects or for wide angle shots. For comparison, a 16mm lens on FF is 107°.  60°-Objektiv (NA87221) For a narrower angle of view or when you want the background elements to look more compressed, the 60°lens is the perfect choice. It is designed with 9 elements in 6 groups. There are three focusing ranges that can be set on the lens: 00-55 mm, 55-25 mm and 25-0 mm. I would suggest setting it to the 00-55mm setting and adjusting to one of the closer settings when working extremely close to a subject. The close-up setting works äsimilar to a tube by moving the lens further away from the sensor. Bayonet connection The EMWL uses the Nauticam bayonet mounting system. You can easily attach or remove the EMWL to shoot with just the macro lens or add other accessories. You will need to attach the appropriate bayonet converter to the front of your port. If you need to use a super macro (SMC-1 or SMC-2) or compact macro converter (CMC-1 or CMC-2), they can be attached with an optional bayonet adapter. There are three different versions with varying degrees of angle-of-view. You would choose one based on the look, subject or type of image you would like to produce. These, like the other two parts, can all be put together and disassembled underwater. You could keep all three objective lenses with you and swap out when needed. You can shoot these just like you would any other lens, but the real magic happens when you get up close to your subject. The 130° and 100° objective lenses will focus as close as the front element and the 60° objective lens can focus as close as 15mm. It is the smallest and sleekest in physical size making it a good choice for timid subjects and tight spaces. It is designed with 9 elements in 6 groups. An angle of view of 100° is still a lot of background space for small macro subjects or to shoot wide angle with. A 16mm lens on FF is 107° for comparison.  60°-Objective Lens (NA87221)  For a narrower angle-of-view or if you would like the background elements to look more compressed, than the 60° objective lens is the perfect choice. It is designed with 9 elements in 6 groups. There are three focusing ranges that can be set on the lens, 8-55mm, 55-25mm and 25-15mm. I would suggest setting it to the 8-55mm setting and adjust to one of the closer settings when working extremely close to a subject. The closer setting work similar to an extension tube by moving the lens further away from the sensor. Bayonet mount The EMWL uses the Nauticam Bayonet Mounting System. You can easily attach or remove the EMWL to shoot with just the macro lens or add other accessories. You will need to add the appropriate Bayonet Mount Converter to the front of your port. If you wish to use a Super Macro (SMC-1 or SMC-2) or Compact Macro Converter (CMC-1 or CMC-2), they can be attached with an optional Bayonet Mount Adapter.
