Sony A7/A7R Underwater Housing by Nauticam

Panasonic Lumix GH4 Underwater Housing by Nauticam
The Lumix GH4 is a photo camera that is particularly appreciated by underwater videographers. Nauticam recognises this with its NA-GH4 housing. ISO is the key to video exposure, and this new control makes changing the ISO very quick and easy, essentially redirecting that control back to the right thumb. The knob is in exactly the right place, ideal for quick access but not easy to press accidentally. Another important concern for video - white balance - is achieved with another control that is redirected for maximum ease of use. A push lever, accessible with the right thumb, engages the white balance button. The GH4 has 5 programmable custom functions, all placed for easy accessibility. The GH4's combination lever and AFS/AFC/Manual + AF/AE Lock button are divided into two separate controls, allowing the AF On function to be available for "Thumb Focus". The GH4 enables autofocus via this button even when the lever is set to Manual Focus, which means that switching between Thumb Focus and Half-Push Focus can be done instantly. One of the programmable functions (typically Fn5) is used to switch between electronic viewfinder and OLED panels. For underwater photographers who decide they don't need to switch, the Fn5 can be reprogrammed for other functions, such as photo style, video capture quality, VFR, peaking or any of dozens of other functions. The NA-GH4 comes standard with the integrated electronics of the Nauticam vacuum system. By default, this serves as an audible and visual leak detector, but with a Nauticam M14 Vacuum Valve, (p/n# 25611), it becomes a vacuum control system that confirms watertight integrity before, during and after the dive - which means safety. Magnifying optical viewfinder Take advantage of the GH4's electronic viewfinder. An optional LCD window (NA17751), which includes the viewfinder retaining ring, is required to attach the Nauticam's 45º or 180º magnifying viewfinder to the NA-GH4. For NA-GH3 owners, this is the same window used for this housing. External monitor and storage medium Videographers will want to consider an external monitor or recorder. The monitor makes recording much easier in some scenarios, allowing the user to position the monitor for better viewing when the housing is in a tight position or at a difficult viewing angle. Nauticam produces a housing for the Atomos Shogun that enables 4K 4:2:2:2 10bit recording. The GH4 is capable of 4K 4:2:2:2 10bit output via HDMI 1.4. Flash control With the NA-GH4 and a variety of optically fired flashes, reliable automatic flash exposure is possible. The Inon Z-240, D-2000, S-2000, Sea&Sea YS-01 and YS-D1 flashes provide automated lighting and reproduce the camera's built-in flash with a proportionally higher intensity using the built-in fibre optic bulkheads. The optional flash trigger for Panasonic (NA26305) is compatible with the NA-GH4 housing and enables fast manual flash triggering via fibre optics without draining the camera's battery.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV Underwater Housing by Nauticam
Functions of the NA-RX100IV New stainless steel handle brackets and trigger release. Secure, easy to use locking mechanism Ergonomic controls with distinction of size, shape and colour All camera controls accessible All controls are clearly labelled Open/close flash lever Fibre optic flash connectors Integrated leak detector and optional vacuum control M10 accessory mounting ball Hot shoe mount 67mm threaded mount for wide-angle and macro lenses Designed, sensitive shutter release button M16 connector for HDMI output M14 connection for vacuum valve Wide angle or macro The RX100 bodies have an industry-standard 67mm port thread, making it easy to attach a range of different wet-mount lenses. The 24-70mm lens that Sony has installed in this camera allows the underwater photographer to get closer to their subject. Getting closer means less water and fewer particles between the subject and the camera, resulting in more colourful images. On the macro side, the Nauticam Super Macro Converter 1 (SMC) is the ideal choice and allows you to fill the image with a 2.5 cm "big" subject. This is over 4x magnification achieved by the series lens (series lenses 160 mm wide, SMC 38 mm wide). Wide-angle attachment lens This fully sealed and submersible mountable optic is designed for use in water - with the refractive index of optical glass to water considered at every step of the design process. Optimised for best wide-angle performance at 28 mm equivalent focal length, the lens offers 130° diagonal field of view with low distortion, extremely high overall sharpness (especially in the corners), excellent contrast and shock resistance. The outstanding image quality of today's top compact cameras paired with Nauticam conversion lenses is impressive. They form a complete system that covers the entire range from macro to super wide-angle and can be packed into a small backpack or shoulder bag. Vacuum monitoring and leak detector Nauticam engineers managed to penetrate Nauticam's vacuum monitoring and leak detection electronics. By default, it serves as an acoustic and visual leak detector, but with a Nauticam M14 vacuum valve (p/n 25611), it becomes a vacuum control system. The vacuum monitoring system provides early warning of any problem with watertight integrity - meaning safety when shooting underwater. Video The RX100 IV now supports XAVC S Ultra High Definition (3840×2160) 24P/25P/30P video at up to 100 Mbps as well as HD at up to 120 fps! Focus Peaking and Zebra Lines are available to control focus and correct exposure.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 V(A) Underwater Housing by Nauticam
With the RX100 V Sony has continued to add features to this workhorse compact camera and Nauticam is keeping pace with the new NA-RX100V. The NA-RX100V housing provides the ergonomics, build quality, and innovative feature set our customers demand in a tiny, travel friendly package. Nauticam designs are always improving, and new features integrated into each new release. The ergonomic experience has been tailored for a photographer's right hand on the side of the housing, placing key controls literally at the users finger tips. THE SONY CYBER-SHOT RX100 V CAMERA Dubbed "the Fast Five" by DPReview.com, the fifth installment in the now legendary RX100 series adds exceptional autofocus speed and a mind blowing 24 frames per second burst mode to the already well rounded and capable feature set found on RX100 IV. The core RX100 DNA that has made this series so exceptionally popular is unchanged. These features include a large backside illuminated sensor in a compact body that can easily fit into a shirt pocket, a fast 24-70mm zoom lens, and Ultra High Definition Video. Speed, both in focusing, and continuous shooting, catapults RX100 V to the top of the compact camera class. The DSC-RX100 V adds a 315 point phase detect af sensor array covering 65% of the frame. Phase detect focus systems can acquire focus more quickly than the contrast detect enabled competition. Hunting for focus is virtually eliminated, and the continuous and tracking focus modes are much better at tracking fast action. The 24 fps Continuous Hi shooting mode (complete with autofocus, auto exposure, and raw capture capability) provides a completely new way of shooting behavior. Still photo strobes can't keep up with this frame rate, but with ambient light or LED video lights this high speed burst mode. Even the Continuous Mid mode is on par with the continuous shooting speeds possible with pro body DSLR cameras Sony Cyber-shot RX-100 V Key Specifications: 20.1 MP 1"-type stacked CMOS Sensor f/1.8-2.8 24-70mm equivalent zoom lens Optical Image Stabilization 1/32,000 sec max electronic shutter speed (1/2,000 sec mechanical shutter) 24 fps continuous shooting Slow motion video recording up to 1000 fps (960 fps in NTSC mode) 4K (UHD) video recording with full sensor readout at 100 Mbps SLog2 gamma setting Tilting 3" 1.3m dot LCD Pop-up 2.36m dot OLED electronic viewfinder Built-in ND filter Wi-Fi with NFC Example setup THE NAUTICAM NA-RX100V UNDERWATER HOUSING The NA-RX100V Underwater Housing by Nauticam sets a new standard for compact camera housing design. It is the ultimate refinement of the models that came before it, and proven in the field. Nauticam designs are always improving, and new features integrated into each new release. The ergonomic experience has been tailored for a photographer's right hand on the side of the housing, placing key controls literally at the users finger tips. Some users, especially those wearing cold water gloves, prefer shooting from handles such as the Nauticam Flexitray and Easitray. To better support this style of shooting, a set of stainless steel handle brackets and amechanical shutter release trigger extension is included with every housing. The RX100V housings features an industry standard 67mm threaded port mount, meaning it is easy to attach a number of different wet mount lenses. A compact camera underwater is only as good as the optics in front of it, and the growing Nauticam accessory lens lineup sets new performance standards with every release. On the macro end, the Compact Super Macro Converter (CMC) is the ideal choice and enables a subject 35mm wide by 23mm tall to fill the frame. This is over 4x magnification provided by the stock lens (stock lens images 160mm wide, CMC 35mm wide). All Nauticam lenses are engineered specifically for underwater imaging, not waterproof adaptations of lenses designed for use in air, resulting in superior image quality. The CMC provides visibly sharper images than competing macro lenses, especially in the corders, with noticeably less purple fringing. The lens design is also designed with autofocus systems in mind, easing the learning curve associated with high magnification imaging.. WET WIDE ANGLE LENS This completely sealed and underwater mountable optic is designed to be used in water – with the refractive index of optical glass to water accounted for at every step in the design process. Optimized for best wide angle performance at the 28mm equivalent focal length, the lens offers 130° diagonal field of view with low distortion, extremely high overall sharpness (especially in the corners), excellent contrast, and resistance to flare. The outstanding image quality of today's top compacts paired with Nauticam conversion lenses is stunning. They combine to form a complete system that covers the entire range from macro to super wide angle, and packs into a small backpack or shoulder bag VIDEO The standard NA-RX100V housing supports HDMI out, via an optional HDMI bulkhead connected to the M16 accessory hole in the front of the housing. This means that the underwater videographer can use the excellent SmallHD 501 or 502 Monitors (in the NA-502S housing, p/n 17907), the Atomos Ninja 2 Recorder (NA-NINJA2 housing, p/n 17902), or even the Atomos Shogun UHD Recorder (Nauticam Housing p/n 17904). The RX100IV camera offers "clean" HDMI output, allowing high bit rate Apple ProRes recording at up to 4k 30P with Shogun. The line between a camcorder and still camera no longer exists, with examples like RX100 V providing excellent capture functionality for both still and motion images. RX100 IV is an excellent upgrade from your favorite action cam, and can even fill a POV or Pole Cam role on natural history productions.

As the cameras have evolved, so have the Nauticam housings. The NA-a1 underwater housing provides fingertip access to all key camera controls in a rugged and reliable aluminum underwater housing. Ergonomic camera control access is one of the defining strengths of a Nauticam housing, and the NA-a1 continues this tradition. Integrated DSLR-housing styled handles with ergonomic rubberized grips and stainless steel stiffening brackets add stability and accessory mounting points. The NA-a1 also features dual rear thumb-levers that are easily reached from the handle that access three of the most-used controls on the rear of the camera. The right lever actuates the AF-ON and RECORD buttons while the left lever is mapped to the PLAY button. Atop the housing on the left side are controls in the form of a MODE dial and FOCUS mode lever. The C1, C2 buttons as well as the EV compensation dial also have direct access from the top of the housing. The C3, which is typically assigned to control switching between the EVF and the LCD screen is easily reachable on the rear of the housing from the left handle. ACCESSORY PORTS The NA-a1 has both an M24 port at the front of the housing for both HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity (see sidebar for recommendations) as well as an M14 at the rear for the optional Vacuum Valve (25624). The housing comes with electronics pre-installed for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system. This monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive. PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS Nauticam's wide range of ports and in-house corrective optics are the perfect compliment to the NA-a1's inherent flexibility. Built around the N100 Port System, the NA-a1 supports a wide variety of Sony FE mount lenses, as well as EF mount lenses via adapters. In addition, there are several options available to use the groundbreaking WACP and WACP-2 wide-angle corrective lenses as well as the more compact and in-water removable WWL-1B. For example, With the Sony SEL1635GM FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM, the WACP 2 brings the original 105º field-of-view to an impressive 128º with sharper corners, an ~0" minimum focus distance and a more natural looking image than would be provided by a standard glass dome port. FLASH TRIGGERING Both fiber-optic and electrical strobe triggering options are available. The Nauticam Universal Fiber Optical cables attach to the built-in bulkheads atop the housing and feature modular connections for both Sea&Sea-style bushings and INON threaded connections. Triggering is achieved using the optional Nauticam Mini Flash Trigger for Sony (26302) which uses LEDs powered by an on-board coin-cell battery to generate a manual signal that is transmitter via the optical cables to compatible strobes.
