The A9 III underwater housing by Nauticam

The NA-A9III underwater housing provides unfettered access to all of the camera's key controls. On the inside, you will see a feat of engineering as access to important controls has been rerouted out to the left and right handles. This makes changing your settings on the fly a breeze allowing you to take full control of the creative process that we enjoy as image creators.

Drawing on our successful full frame Sony underwater housings this latest housing for the Sony a9 III is sure to be a reliable tool for the professional and amateur image maker.

High-quality, professional optics

Inspired by the water contact lens designs of decades before, Nauticam is continually developing new optical accessories that raise the bar of what is possible in underwater imaging. Designed with modern lens design software and fully optimized for in-water use, these lenses provide significantly better performance than an in-air lens behind a dome or flat port alone. The NA-A9II can leverage the unparalleled optical quality of Nauticam's Water Contact optics such as the FCP-1, WACP-1 or WWL-1B which offers up to 170º field-of-view, full zoom through, an almost 0" minimum focus distance with supported lenses. For macro, the SMC-1 and SMC-2 deliver tack-sharp super-macro magnification levels up to 4x with the Sony 90mm macro lens.

Viewfinders

The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel-friendly, but many photographers prefer the ease of a magnified viewfinder with an adjustable diopter. Nauticam produces a "straight" 180º enlarging viewfinder and a 45º angled enlarging viewfinder to enhance the ease of close-quarters work often associated with macro shooting. Both viewfinders have high-quality optics and allow bright viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptric adjustment allows personal adjustment to a sharp-as-a-tack standard underwater and viewfinder changes can be executed in less than 30 seconds without using tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been more accessible.

Flash Triggering

Please set the "Sync Terminal Settings" to always, then camera can output a flash signal to the Multi Interface Shoe when shooting.

Integrated Vacuum check and Leak detection System

The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-A9III as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (NA25624), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water-tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color-coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.

The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action-packed dive.

Optoelectronic TTL converter (for SONY) for NAUTICAM underwater housings NA- NA-A7 II, A7R III, A7RIV, A9, A9 II. Compatible underwater flashes: Inon Z-330 / Z-240 / S-220, Sea&Sea YS-D1 / YS-D3 Mark II / YS-250, Ikelite DS-230 / DS160 / DS160 DS-125, Subtronic Pro-270 / Pro-160, RetraFlash PRO TTL and HSS on the RetraFlash Fantastic TTL accuracy allows photographers to relax and rely entirely on automatic flash exposure control. Many creative tasks are made possible by using extremely fast HSS shutter speeds of up to 1/8000 with the Retra Pro flash in manual mode. The TTL converter firmware also has some other important updates related to its common functionality. The Retra PRO profile can be set by the user üvia the TTL converter's built-in rotary switch. The TTL/M modes can be switched underwater simply by using the camera name or the flash button. In manual mode, the flash intensity can be adjusted manually üvia the camera wheel/scale, but also üvia the flash control knob. The Nauticam NA-Ninja V, when used with supported housings and cameras, allows for the connection of the Ninja V over HDMI 2.0 in addition to providing easy access to the Ninja V controls underwater. Atomos Ninja V The Atomos Ninja V is an exceptional monitor, featuring a bright 1000 nit 10-bit HDR 5.2" screen that can display over 10 stops of dynamic range with compatible cameras. The monitor includes a variety of exposure and focus assist tools to insure your footage is properly exposed with critical focus. In addition to being an extremely capable monitor, the Ninja V is also a recorder. A stable filming platform is crucial to capturing many underwater scenes. While larger cinema systems such as the NA-C200, RED Komodo and RED DSMC2 housings feature integrated stabilization options, many Nauticam DSLR and Mirrorless systems now have an option for a similar level of support with the Universal Quadra-Pod Plate. INTRODUCING UNIVERSAL QUADRA-POD PLATE FOR NAUTICAM HOUSINGS Featuring a flexible housing mounting position, the Quadra-Pod attaches via the integrated threaded mounts on the bottom of supported housings with large knurled thumb screws. The Quadra-Pod can be used in either Quadrapod or Tripod configurations. Building up vacuum Remove the cap of the vacuum valve. Connect the hand pump to the valve and pump several times until it reaches the target vacuum level. The LED light will turn flashing yellow while vacuum is building up, then steady green when the target vacuum level is reached. Attention: After the target vacuum is reached, i.e. steady green light, attach the cap back to the vacuum valve. It is recommended to leave the housing for at least 20mins to ensure it is sealed. If the LED light changes from steady green light to rapidly flashing yellow light, that means there is a leakage and please check every O-ring and conduct the vacuum test again. Please ensure that the cap is attached back to the vacuum valve before going underwater. Vacuum can be released by pushing the red release button. Attention: Please DO NOT attempt to go over the designated vacuum level, i.e. stop pumping when the LED turn green. Excessive vacuum level may lead to the malfunction of the camera and lens. Note: Although the vacuum indicator is designated to compensate for a certain amount of temperature variation, it is recommended to conduct the vacuum test in an environment where the temperature is stable. After set up, the meaning of the LED indicator in the housing: Flashing “Blue” light: Standby mode. The moisture alarm is active, and the system is ready for vacuum indication whenever a vacuum is detected. Flashing “Red” light with beeping sound:Moisture is detected. Flashing “Yellow” light: Some vacuum is detected, target vacuum level is not reached. Steady “Green” light: Target vacuum level is reached. Rapidly flashing “Yellow” light: Vacuum is dropping. (Will occur only after target vacuum level is reached) Rapidly flashing “Red” light: Vacuum is totally lost. Circuit stalled until switched off. (Will occur only after target vacuum level is reached)
