Nauticam has become justly famous for its pioneering underwater optical designs. These optics are a particular passion of Nauticam founder and managing director Edward Lai, and the various options offer exceptional performance with the NA-R50 underwater system. The magic of wet lenses lies in their enormous versatility, coupled with outstanding underwater performance. Both macro and super wide-angle interchangeable lenses can be available to the underwater photographer on the same dive. Below you will find a selection of the recommended options. The WWL-1Bis a wide-angle converter that is an excellent match for the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. The WWL-1B offers a razor-sharp 130-degree diagonal field of view at 18mm and allows full zoom up to 60 degrees at 45mm. Focusing down to the glass is possible at all focal lengths and provides an amazing wide-angle capability at close range. The all-glass WWL-1B lens offers a sharper overall performance than any wide-angle lens behind a dome on a conventional system. Flashes that offer sTTL capability with fibre optics offer the possibility of full TTL compatibility with the R50. Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system The Nauticam vacuum inspection and leak detection electronics are supplied as standard with the NA-R50. Combined with the included M16 vacuum valve, this monitoring system provides constant, up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the case is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuitry so that an audible and visual signal is emitted when water is ingressing. In addition to being an extremely capable monitor, the Ninja V is also a recorder. When used with compatible cameras over HDMI 2.0, the Ninja V can record 4K at 60p in 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes or DNxHR formats to Atomos AtomX SSDmini solid state drives. With a 1TB SSDmini drive, the Ninja V can record up to 150 minutes of 4K video. EXPOSURE TOOLS  The Ninja V exposure guides include a Waveform for luminance, RGB Parade for color balance, and Vector Scope for hue and saturation. Focus Assist Outline shows only the false color outline on a black background of the sharpest Areas.   THE NAUTICAM NA-NINJA V UNDERWATER HOUSING The Nauticam NA-Ninja V builds on the strong foundation Nauticam has built with previous Atomos monitor/recorder housings but is built around the new M28 large-bore bulkhead that supports HDMI 2.0. The Ninja V is easily mounted in the housing, dropping in without trays or other mounting accessories and is held in place by two rotating locking levers. The Ninja V features both an HDMI 2.0 input as well as an output and the NA-Ninja V supports both as well. With dual M28 bulkheads, a second HDMI cable can be run to another monitor. The Ninja V allows for the application of. cube format 3D LUTs to this output signal. The NA-Ninja V supports up to the NP-F970 size battery which provides up to two hours of run time. A CR-2032 battery powers the vacuum check and leak detection system. F AND Z MOUNT COMPATIBLE The NA-Z9 uses the N120 Port System for Z-Mount full-frame lenses. When using F-mount lenses, the FTZ adapter is inside the housing which allows for the same port configuration as is found on an F-mount DSLR system such as the NA-D6 or NA-D850. Convenient lens release buttons on the housing for both F and Z mount makes lens changes a snap regardless of platform without having to remove the camera from the housing; only when installing or removing the FTZ adapter. MISSION CONTROL Essential control are placed within easy reach of the ergonomic handles and easy setup means more time in the water and less time working on your rig. THE CANON EOS R3 CAMERA The Canon EOS R3 in all respects appears to be the mirrorless sibling of the 1DX Mark III DSLR, clearly aimed at fulfilling many of the same roles while offering some additional capabilities through the use of the electronic viewfinder and the larger RF lens mount.  The full-frame 24.1MP Stacked CMOS sensor, in addition to having incredible low-light performance, can also capture full-width 6K video in both Raw and compressed formats at up to 60fps.  The R3 is paired to Canon's industry leading Dual Pixel AF system with 100% frame coverage and the now revived Eye AF system. DUAL PIXEL AF II Canon's Dual Pixel autofocus system has long been a favorite of underwater users, especially when it comes to tacking subjects.  With the R3, the system adds an additional 'Animal' recognition mode which might make the system even more reliable at following moving subjects.  Frame coverage is 100% with 1053 zones to ensure accurate focus wherever the subject may be. LOW LIGHT PERFORMANCE The ability to increase a camera's ISO with little penalty is of critical importance to underwater shooters for both stills and video as shooting with higher F-stop values delivers sharper corners and higher shutter speeds mean less motion blur.  The higher video frame rates also benefit by allowing the shooter to maintain a 180º shutter while still maintaining adequate aperture values.  When using color correction filters, which can often remove more than a full stop of light, compensation via ISO is not as much of an issue for overall image quality.  Maintaining dynamic range, even at high ISO levels is also important for those shooting still images using natural light or in poor water conditions. ENHANCED CONTROLS The R3 features an additional control wheel located at the upper right rear of the camera which doubles as the mode control.  This wheel can be assigned a variety of functions such as ISO and is adjusted by a dedicated control wheel on the housing within easy reach of the right handle.   VIDEO CAPABILITIES The Canon R3 can capture 6K video at up to 60fps in either Raw or more compressed formats.  The 6K capture uses the full sensor width which means no loss in field-of-view.  12-bit 6K capture is possible in both uncompressed Canon Raw or compressed Raw light formats.  10-bit H.265 is also possible in both the HDR PQ and Canon Log3 gamma curves to maximize dynamic range for post processing while maintaining smaller file sizes than a Raw format.  It's also possible (when using supported cards) to simultaneously record 10-bit 4:2:2 DCI 4K 60p video.  For those looking for higher frame rates, 10-bit 4:2:2 compressed 4K/120fps can also be captured, downsampled from the full sensor width.  A natively sampled 4K S35 crop is also an option, allowing for more magnification or the use of APS-C lenses.  The R3 also outputs a clean 6K signal over HDMI via an HDMI Micro Type D connector.  Direct custom white balance in live view is also now possible, making a critical function for underwater video even easier. STABILIZATION The R3 features 5-axis In Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) which can offer up to 8 stops of correction allowing for even smoother video and less camera movement related blur. LARGE ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDER The R3's EVF is an OLED 5.76M-dot that features an OVF simulation mode which leverages. the large dynamic range of the OLED screen to reproduce a scene the way it would look through an optical viewfinder.  The lower dynamic range of electronic viewfinders has always made them more difficult to use underwater, especially in high contrast or backlit scenes. FLASH TRIGGERING Flash triggering can be accomplished via the two included M14 electronic bulkheads (One is pre-installed in the M24 bulkhead via a removable M26-M14 adapter).  If using fiber-optic triggering, the built-in fiber optic bulkheads can be used with either the optional manual LED or TTL-flash triggers to provide the desired type of strobe power control. VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM The housing comes with electronics pre-installed for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system, requiring only the optional M16 Vacuum Valve (25625). This monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. The TG-6, which also works inside the NA-TG7 housing, was a huge hit amongst underwater photographers as it was able to capture even super-macro images without any need for diopters. The TG-7 is a clear example of Olympus' drive to create a camera that rises to meet the ever-evolving needs of the traveling compact camera user. The feature that made the TG-5 a true macro game-changer was the 1cm minimum focus distance. The X-T4, Fujifilm's latest APS-C mirrorless hybrid camera, adds a list of significant upgrades when compared to its predecessors.  Some of the most noticeable improvements are in-body stabilization, battery life, and auto focus tracking performance. As still/video hybrids become more popular, Fuji is offering a 26MP, high-resolution electronic viewfinder camera that can record internal 10 bit 4:2:0 H.265 DCI/UHD 4K video or 4:2:2 over HDMI as well as shooting an impressive 20fps of continuous stills. FUJIFILM X-T4 The Fujifilm X-T4 features an APS-C CMOS 4 X-Trans 26.1MP Sensor. The X-T4 is powered by a proven X Processor 4 which provides fast performance and improved responsiveness. Newly added in-body stabilization delivers up to a 6.5EV benefit which is a significant addition for video shooters.  The improved autofocus tracking system now considers color and shape as well as distance information, providing a noticeable improvement over the X-T3.   Oversampled DCI or UHD 4K (using full sensor width) is possible at 30p whereas 60p can be recorded with a minor 1.18x crop. The 60p footage can be captured as 10 bit 4:2:0 H.265 at 200 Mbps and recorded internally. This increases to 4:2:2 when output over HDMI. The X-T4 also features F-Log capture to maximize dynamic range, protecting highlights and shadows for editing. New to the X-T4 is F-Log View Assist which applies a gamma correction to the EVF and LCD, helping to visualize the end result.  Zebra warnings and focus peaking overlays as well as magnification during shooting are all features that video shooters will appreciate. More than just an updated badge, the NA-XT4 is redesigned and considerably smaller than its NA-XT3 predecessor.  The NA-XT4 features DSLR-style housing and port lock mechanisms as well as integrated ergonomic handles. The housing is designed with our Mission Control concept of placing the most important camera controls as close to the handles as possible to facilitate effortless and quick camera operation to ensure you don't miss the shot. The NA-XT4 features thumb levers near both handles, with the left thumb lever actuating the playback function and the right thumb lever the AF-ON control. The housing includes two M14 and one M24 bulkhead openings to accommodate a variety of accessories. The NA-XT4 uses the N100 Port System shared with the Fujifilm XH1 and XT3 system. A selection of port options are available for a variety of lenses. VIDEO RECORDING FEATURES The impressive video specs of the X-T4 prompted the addition of some video-centric features to the NA-XT4. The base of the housing can accept Nauticam's Mounting Ball Set for Tripod (PN 25218). As the X-T4 can output DCI/UHD 4K at 60p with 4:2:2 quality over HDMI, a new M24 bulkhead has been incorporated into the housing to support an HDMI 2.0 connection to the Nauticam Atomos Ninja V housing (HDMI 2.0) for Atomos Ninja V 5” 4Kp60 4:4:2 10-bit Recorder/Monitor/Player (NA17922).  An M24 Adaptor for HDMI 2.0 Cable (NA25086) is required when using the Nauticam Ninja V housing.   FLASH TRIGGERING Reliable automatic flash exposure is available with the NA-XT4 and a variety of optically fired flashes, precisely reproducing the Fujifilm EF-X8 flash at a proportionally greater intensity. This system yields accurate automatic TTL flash performance – even in manual exposure mode – with no electrical sync cables to flood! The NA-XT4 is also compatible with the Nauticam Mini Flash Trigger for Panasonic/Fujifilm (NA26305). The Flash Trigger allows for rapid fire manual flash firing via fiber optic, with no camera battery drain. The NA-XT4 comes fiber optic ready and accepts standard Sea & Sea style bushing connections. Nauticam Universal fiber optic cable system (NA26216) for Inon, Sea&Sea strobes, provide exceptional light transmission for accurate TTL performance. INTEGRATED VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is pre-installed in the NA-XT4 as standard equipment. Combined with an optional M14 Vacuum Valve II (NA25624), this monitoring system provides constant updates throughout the dive as to watertight integrity of the housing via a multi-color LED on the rear of the housing.

Looking at the specs, the Sony FX3 is strikingly similar to the A7S III less an electronic viewfinder.  Take a closer look and its the powerful video features of the A7S III with cinema-centric controls and exterior design.  The FX3 can capture 4K at up to 120fps with 15+ stops of dynamic range with the option for RAW over HDMI.  Controls are optimized for video with direct iris, ISO and shutter angle control.  With the addition of an internal fan, the recording time limit for 4K60p has been removed.  The NA-FX3's compact size make it ideal for the traveling filmmaker and those looking for a more nimble underwater System. THE SONY ALPHA FX3 CINEMA LINE FULL-FRAME CAMERA Compact cinema cameras are increasingly a popular choice for underwater film making and Sony's FX3 brings the powerful capabilities of the A7S III full-frame mirrorless camera to the form factor.  The FX3 is built around the same sensor as the A7S III that allows for capture of up to 4K 120p 10-bit 4:2:2 with full-pixel readout.  The FX3 adds a cooling fan to reduce heat buildup during continuous filming and omits the electronic viewfinder of the A7S III.  The controls of the FX3 are also clearly cinema-centric with direct access to iris, shutter angle, ISO and WB.  There is also a zoom lever and tally light. The FX3's 627-point phase detection autofocus features customizable AF Transition Speed as well as Subject Shit Sensitivity as well as real-time AF tracking.  5-axis in-body stabilization helps create smooth video.  The FX3 has minimized rolling shutter effect at higher frame rates due to faster sensor readout. The incredible sensitivity of the A7S III is shared by the FX3 with a maximum ISO value of 409,600 and reduced noise at higher sensitivities.  When shooting at higher frame rates, the ability to shoot at higher ISO values with little penalty to image quality is a game changer.  Using color correction filters, which often result in a loss of light, while maintaining desired iris and shutter angle settings makes the FX3 ideal as an underwater filmmaking camera for even the most challenging lighting situations.  A visible and IR light sensor improves white balance accuracy. When working with external recorders, the FX3 can output a RAW 16-bit 4K60p signal via the HDMI type-A port.  Internal recording is to dual CFexpress Type A or SDXC/SDHC card slots.   THE NAUTICAM NA-FX3 UNDERWATER HOUSING The Nauticam NA-FX3 underwater housing is designed to deliver an intuitive user experience in a rugged and reliable platform that is supported by the extensive Nauticam lineup of accessories and premium optics. The NA-FX3 is built around the N100 port system that is shared by all full-frame Sony mirrorless systems in the Nauticam lineup, allowing seamless crossover for existing Sony shooters.   CAMERA COMPATIBILITY The NA-FX3 underwater housing is compatible with both the Sony FX3 and the Sony FX30.    MISSION CONTROL The NA-FX3 is designed with our Mission Control philosophy, placing controls where they can be easily accessed with minimal movement.  Within easy reach of the right handle are control dials for Iris, ISO and Shutter Speed.  There is also a dedicated REC button and FOCUS MAG lever.  Stainless steel stabilizing brackets insure the handles remain steady even when using large video lights or other accessories. The ARRI ALEXA 35 sets a new standard for Super 35 digital video cameras, featuring an all-new 4.6K ALEV 4 CMOS sensor, a massive 17 stops of dynamic range and a host of new features that make it the new gold standard for digital cinematography.   The ARRI ALEXA 35 camera   The ALEXA 35 builds on ARRI's already impressive range of cinema cameras and is perfect for underwater production, providing a compact and feature-rich addition to the ARRI camera range. The ALEXA 35 has a robust, compact form factor, similar to the ALEXA Mini, but with features similar to the larger ALEXA camera. The ALEXA 35 can record both ARRIRAW and Apple ProRES at resolutions up to 4.6K and frame rates up to 120p onto 2TB Codex drives. To take full advantage of the all-new sensor, ARRI has also developed the all-new REVEAL Color Science.  Developed based on feedback from colourists and cinematographers, REVEAL Color Science provides improvements in colour, contrast, sensitivity and dynamic range.   In addition to ARRI's newer LPL (LBUS) mount, which covers ARRI's entire sensor size range with optimised full sensor coverage, the ALEXA 35 can also be used with the PL to LPL Adapter, EF Mount and PL Mount.     The Nauticam underwater housing for the ARRI ALEXA 35 Easy camera installation The Nauticam system is designed for both owners/operators and landlords and is very easy to set up. With just a pin and an Allen key, the entire mounting and lens control system is set up on the camera base plate outside the housing. This means that the rig can be set up on a table, in good light and with plenty of room to work. Once the camera is mounted on the base plate, the entire system slides into the housing and locks securely into place. Lens operation Similar to the ALEXA Mini and Mini LF hoods, the ALEXA 35 hood features an adjustable gear tower that allows you to control focus, iris and zoom via the knobs on the outside of the hood. This diver-controlled device fully meets the needs of a single operator. For more production-oriented shoots that require remote control, the redesigned Nauticam ALEXA 35 housing features two upper and two lower 15mm rods that allow the use of cforce Plus and cforce mini motors in conjunction with the ARRI Hi-5 handheld unit. Only the upper 15 mm rod is suitable for the larger cforce Plus motors.   Unlike the previous generation housings, the motors now drive the lens itself and no longer   via the adjustable gear tower.  With the standard housing, two motors can be mounted for short primes.  If you add the optional 100mm housing extension NA16422, you can mount 3 motors on the 15mm rods, which allows the use of zoom lenses or longer lenses. The housing also comes with a 3/4′hydroflex bulkhead so that the power, remote control and remote monitoring lines of other Hydroflex rental systems can be used on the Alexa Mini. A huge range of lenses are supported, from very small standard Zeiss lenses to very large cinema-style zoom lenses. Our port system was tested with the Arri UWZ 9.5-18, the most sophisticated wide-angle lens ever made, and achieved excellent results.
