Mission control
The engineers at Nauticam are obsessed with providing the underwater photographer with unhindered access to all the necessary controls, as many of which as possible are within reach of the ergonomic, rubberised handles. This Mission Control philosophy also applies to the NA-R5II, which has a double thumb lever and a double lower lever on the right handle. The upper thumb lever activates the "AF-On" buttons and the lower one the "Q" buttons, while the lower lever corresponds to the "M-Fn" and "Record" buttons. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback" and a special switch to switch from using the LCD to the EVF.
Large and rubberised control dials allow access to the camera's main and secondary control dials. The two-stage shutter release enables smooth focussing and release. Additional buttons for "menu", "focus point selection" and others are also easily accessible from the grips.
An additional control wheel is located on the left side of the housing and can be connected to the control ring of the supported EF to EOS R mount adapter with control ring via the optional gearbox (NA19561).
Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam vacuum control and leak detection electronics are part of the standard equipment of the NA-R5. In combination with an optional vacuum valve, this monitoring system constantly provides up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple, colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuit so that an audible and visual signal is emitted in the event of water ingress.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms due to changes in external temperature or heating of the camera during an action-packed dive.
With each new generation of camera, Sony continues to make giant strides in the way images are taken and processed. The Nauticam underwater housing for the Canon EOS R50
Nauticam has always been at the forefront of underwater gear technology. They üre always pushing the boundaries to develop evolutionary and sometimes revolutionary products that make image making easier. The NA-R50 underwater camera is no exception. It combines everything that makes the Nauticam range of housings a favourite among underwater photographers in a small and lightweight design.
The new, innovative system allows you to capture images with ease.
The new innovative system has been designed around the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens, as this lens is by far the most versatile and practical RF lens that can be used underwater with the Canon RF APS-C format. The mount is therefore integrated into the housing and requires no additional maintenance, similar to the Nauticam compact camera systems. This lens delivers excellent results in wide to narrow fish portraits, but can easily be combined with Nauticam's excellent WWL-1 or WWL-C to achieve exceptionally sharp wide-angle coverage with full zoom, while maintaining the modest form factor. Nauticam's Compact Macro Converter with water contact optics can be added for a complete system that does it all and can be taken anywhere, fitting easily into a traveller's hand luggage.
Made from sturdy aluminium, the NA-R50 body is not only lighter but also more compact than any previous Canon APS-C system. It is the perfect choice for photographers who want to capture stunning images and video with the industry's best autofocus, while enjoying the convenience of minimal bulk and maintenance. The housing comes ready to dive, as even the zoom accessory is included. Add the R50 camera and the RFS 18-45 and you are ready to shoot.
Compact and versatile
The dimensions of the NA-R50 underwater camera are so small that it can be handheld without a mount for maximum freedom when needed. It measures only 238 mm in width, 150 mm in height and 115 mm in depth. Compared to earlier APS-C camera bodies, the NA-R50 has an incredibly small footprint, which makes it appealing and travel-friendly.
Which attachment lens to combine with the NA-R50?
Nauticam has become justly famous for its pioneering underwater optical designs. These optics are a particular passion of Nauticam founder and managing director Edward Lai, and the various options offer exceptional performance with the NA-R50 underwater system. The magic of wet lenses lies in their enormous versatility, coupled with outstanding underwater performance. Both macro and super wide-angle interchangeable lenses can be available to the underwater photographer on the same dive. Below you will find a selection of the recommended options.
The WWL-1Bis a wide-angle converter that is an excellent match for the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. The WWL-1B offers a razor-sharp 130-degree diagonal field of view at 18mm and allows full zoom up to 60 degrees at 45mm. Focusing down to the glass is possible at all focal lengths and provides an amazing wide-angle capability at close range. The all-glass WWL-1B lens offers a sharper overall performance than any wide-angle lens behind a dome on a conventional system.
For those who want an even smaller wide-angle option without sacrificing quality, Nauticam offers the WWL-C, a compact all-glass lens that is just as sharp as the WWL-1B but offers a zoom range of 116 degrees at 18mm to about 52 degrees at 45mm. Of course, it also focuses on the front optics.
Macro lovers also have a choice. Nauticam recommends the lightweight CMC-1. and CMC-2 lenses for the highest image quality and better autofocus performance. Maximum magnification is achieved at a focal length of 45 mm. The CMC-1 offers more magnification, but is a little more demanding. The CMC-2 still offers a strong 0.6x magnification, but is a little more tolerant.
Flash release
The NA-R50 underwater housing uses the pop-up flash of the Canon EOS R50 to provide seamless integration with fibre-optic flashes. Flashes that offer sTTL capability with fibre optics offer the possibility of full TTL compatibility with the R50.
Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam vacuum inspection and leak detection electronics are supplied as standard with the NA-R50. Combined with the included M16 vacuum valve, this monitoring system provides constant, up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the case is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuitry so that an audible and visual signal is emitted when water is ingressing.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, so false alarms due to changes in external temperature or camera heating during an action-packed dive are avoided.
THE NIKON Z 50 CAMERA
Nikon's Z Mount debuted with the Z 6 and Z 7 full-frame mirrorless cameras and is one of the widest lens mounts available in its class. This wider mount allows for faster and more compact lens designs. The Z 50 is equipped with a 20.9MP DX (APS-C) CMOS image sensor that is mated to their EXPEED 6 processor. The Z 50 lists a native ISO range of 100-51,200 and has extensive Auto ISO controls spread across its operating modes. 4K UHD video is captured using the entire width of the sensor meaning no loss in the lens' field-of-view, a critical feature for the underwater video shooter. HD video at up to 120fps allows for dynamic slow motion capture. Switching between still and video is accomplished via a convenient switch on the rear of the camera and the Z 50 maintains discrete exposure settings for each mode. This makes switching between video and still shooting even easier without having to make excessive setting changes.

THE NAUTICAM NA-Z50 UNDERWATER HOUSING
Nauticam's NA-Z50 is designed around the N100 Port System which is also used in the lineup of full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras such as the Sony A7r IV and Fujifilm X-T3. The NA-Z50's form-fitting style and intuitive control placement make the system ideal for the traveling photographer that demands a reliable and portable underwater imaging platform.
MISSION CONTROL
Nauticam's driving design philosophy aims to place controls on the housing where they are most needed. The NA-Z50 features molded ergonomic handles with stainless steel stiffening brackets that eliminate wobble when using large strobes. The main and sub command dials are accessed via large textured knobs within easy reach of the right handle. The Nauticam patented multi-direction pad makes menu navigation or autofocus point movement seamless. A double thumb-lever, easily pressed without removing your hand from the right grip, activates the AF-ON and REC buttons on the camera. A thumb lever near the left handle is for PLAYBACK.
For video shooters, the Nikon Z50 maintains separate exposure settings in Still and Video modes and switching between the modes is done via a convenient switch which is easily accessed on the top of the NA-Z50 housing. With extensive Auto ISO controls, the NA-Z50 is an ideal platform to create video content with the Z 50's UHD 4K 30p or HD 120p capture.
FLASH TRIGGERING
The Nikon Z 50 has a pop-up flash that can be used to provide accurate TTL flash triggering using the integrated fiber-optic bulkheads. A switch on the housing allows the flash to be raised or lowered to allow quick switching between ambient and artificial light shooting. To reduce refresh time and extend the camera's battery life, the NA-Z50 can be outfitted with the optional TTL Converter for Nikon (26308). Operating off of two coin-cell batteries and interfacing via a hot-shoe connection to the camera, the TTL Converter uses LEDs to deliver a TTL signal to external strobes.
PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS
Nikon continues to increase their Z Mount lens lineup and the Z 50 is the first DX format camera to feature the larger mount. Nikon's first lens for the system, the stabilized Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm F3.5-6.3 VR lens is ideal for underwater use when paired with Nauticam's water contact optics lineup. Compatible with both the WWL-C and WWL-1* wide angle conversion lenses, this combination delivers full zoom-through capabilities with a stunning 130º field-of-view and ~0" minimum focus distance. Using Nauticam's Bayonet Mount system, the WWL-C or WWL-1 can be swapped for either the CMC-1 or CMC-2 underwater, converting the system to capture true macro and super-macro. When using full-frame (FX) or APS-C (DX) F mount lenses via the Nikon FTZ Adapter with the NA-Z50, the 35.5mm N100 to N120 Port Adapter (37305) is used in conjunction with the corresponding N120 Port recommendations for those lenses.
* no vignetting at 20mm onwards with WWL-1B
VIEWFINDER OPTIONS
The Nikon Z50 has 2.36M-dot OLED viewfinder. The NA-Z50 is compatible with Nauticam's magnifying viewfinders which are available in both 45º and 180º configurations. The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel friendly, but many photographers prefer the ease of a magnified viewfinder with adjustable diopter. Nauticam produces a "straight" 180º enlarging viewfinder and a 45º angled enlarging viewfinder to enhance the ease of close quarters work often associated with macro shooting. Both viewfinders have high quality optics, and allow bright viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptric adjustment allows personal adjustment to a sharp-as-a-tack standard underwater and viewfinder changes can be executed in less than 30 seconds without using tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been more accessible.
INTEGRATED VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-Z50 as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (PN 25625), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.
The OM-System Tough TG-7 is the latest in their line of IP6X rated go-anywhere compact cameras. The TG-6, which also works inside the NA-TG7 housing, was a huge hit amongst underwater photographers as it was able to capture even super-macro images without any need for diopters. The TG-7 is a clear example of Olympus' drive to create a camera that rises to meet the ever-evolving needs of the traveling compact camera user.
The OM-System Tough TG-7 Camera
The Olympus TG-7 shares the same 12MP BSI CMOS sensor with the TruePic VIII quad-core processor. The camera itself is IP6X rated to be waterproof up to 50ft (which is actually IPX8 spec!) as well as crushproof to 220lbf and freezeproof to 14º F and features an upgraded rear LCD screen. The feature that made the TG-5 a true macro game-changer was the 1cm minimum focus distance. For the TG-6, this feature has seen stronger implementation through the ability to use it outside of the dedicated Microscope Mode.
Key Camera Specifications
12MP BSI CMOS sensor
Waterproof to 50ft
4K/30p UHD Video Capture
1080/120p FHD High-speed Video Capture
Selectable Underwater White Balance Modes
Selectable Autofocus modes
On the TG-5, in order to take advantage of the camera's ability to focus at a mere 1cm from the lens to capture true super-macro images, the camera needed to be set to the dedicated Microscope Mode which forced the camera into a wider-open aperture. The resulting images had impressive magnification but there was no control over the depth-of-field and significant ambient light intrusion. With the TG-6, there is now a selectable Super Macro Focus mode available in Aperture Priority Mode. This gives the shooter complete control over the Aperture. Combined with the added ability to set a minimum shutter speed as high as 1/500sec and limit the maximum ISO, it is possible to regain control over both the depth-of-field and render clean black backgrounds free of ambient light.
Underwater White balance Setting
The TG-7 allows for even greater differentiation with depth-specific preset white balances. for shallow, mid-depth, and deep. These can be used inside the Aperture Priority mode and are helpful when shooting scenes lit purely by ambient light.
Video Perfocmance Upgrades
The 4K/30p video option can now be selected from the Quick Menu as opposed to switching the cameras Mode Dial over to Movie Mode. This combined the with the dedicated Super Macro Focus mode brings all the benefits listed above for still images to 4K video capture as well, all within the underwater-friendly Aperture Priority mode.
The Nauticam NA-TG7 Underwater Housing
Nauticam has supported the Olympus Tough series continuously since the TG-3. Despite the camera being waterproof on its own, the addition of a machined aluminum Nauticam housing transitions the TG-7 into a true underwater image-making platform. Access to essential controls is not only translated into the housing but improved with large well-placed and clearly labeled buttons and dials. The NA-TG7 is compatible with both the TG-6 and TG-7 camera models.
Integrated Bayonet Mount
The NA-TG7 comes with an integrated Bayonet Mount which will work with all previous Bayonet Mount accessories as well as the new WWL-C Wet Wide Lens for compact camera systems. The WWL-C is designed to bring true underwater-specific ultra-wide angle performance to 24mm equivalent lenses such as that found on the TG-5 and TG-6 cameras. The WWL-C in a low-profile wet-mate corrective optic that delivers 130º field-of-view with full zoom-through capability. The lens can easily be removed underwater when macro situations arise and securely stored with one of the Nauticam Bayonet Mount storage Solutions.
Accessory Mounting Options
With the Nauticam NA-TG7 there are both a cold-shoe and M10 threaded mounting point on the housing. These can be outfitted to support a variety of lighting accessories. If even more flexibility is needed, the housing ships with a set of stainless steel stiffening brackets and a shutter release extension for use with the Nauticam Flexitray II system. The addition of the tray, an Adjustable Right Handle and optional Strobe Mounting Balls (NA71311) creates an even more stable shooting platform with up to four accessory mounting locations.
NOTE: When using with NA71207 Flexitray II, the baseplate must be rotated 180º and the handles adjusted accordingly.
Flash Triggering
The NA-TG7 is able to transmit the camera's internal flash to supported external strobes via Nauticam Universal Fiber Optic Cables which plug directly into the Sea&Sea style bulkheads on the front of the housing. The included diffuser can also be attached to use the internal flash as the primary light source.
LDC Magnifier
The NA-TG6 can be outfitted with Rails (NA25123) above and below the rear LCD display window that can accommodate the LCD Magnifier with Dioptric Adjustment (NA25106). The magnifier not only functions as a shade to assist in bright shooting conditions it can magnify the screen to help judge critical focus. The magnifier features a dioptric adjustment to set the focus for your vision, even when using a prescription mask.
THE CANON EOS-C400 CAMERAS
The Nauticam C500II Underwater Housing is compatible with both the Canon EOS-C500 Mark II and EOS-C300 Mark III Cameras. While each camera has its own unique specifications, there are a couple shared sticking points that underwater video shooters have to come to love with a Canon cinema camera, autofocus and white balance. "Canon Color" or Canon's unique ability to give better manual white balance results than any other camera manufacturer and Canon's Dual Pixel AF which uses two photodiodes behind each pixel to improve the camera's autofocus abilities are precisely why Canon cameras remain so popular underwater.
THE NAUTICAM NA-C400 UNDERWATER HOUSING
Nauticam has long been producing industry-leading housings for Cinema cameras and have taken that experience to create the most advanced underwater cinema system housing available.
Taking advantage of the small form factor of the C400, the Nauticam NA-C400 is both ultra-portable yet offers full access to the camera's critical functions. Nauticam has taken a modular approach to the this system, similar to that of the DCS housings for RED and ARRI cameras with a wide variety of add-ons from top-handles to skids and movable trim weights.
The housing includes the newest version of the venerable Nauticam Cinema Skids that feature tracks along which the optional trim weights can be moved to achieve perfect trim for the shot. Mounts on the housing itself also allow for direct attachment of the trim weights to allow for either a fixed trim or for when using tripod legs instead of the skids.
MISSION CONTROL
Regardless of where a button or control dial may lie on the camera body, Nauticam engineers obsess over making sure that access to that control on the housing be intuitively placed for ease of use to insure no shot is missed while searching for a button or dial. To take this a step further, Nauticam has also integrated the Nauticam to Canon SDK Control Board which places a variety of electronic control functions at your finger tips.
INTEGRATED VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-C400 as standard equipment. Also included is the M16 Vacuum Valve II, this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS
Optical performance is just as necessary as camera performance and this becomes even more critical given the challenges of filming underwater. The Nauticam NA-C400 uses the same N120 Port System as the previous NA-C200 housing which makes for a seamless transition for those upgrading to the C400. While this system provides exceptional optical-glass and flat port solutions for a wide variety of EF-mount lenses, the real power can be realized using Nauticam's Water Contact Optics. This lineup of dry and wet lenses are conceived using commercial lens-design software to achieve truly unparalleled underwater image quality both for stills and video in both macro and wide-angle situations. The WACP-1 and WACP-2 achieve ultra-wide 130º fields-of-view with reduced distortion over conventional optics while featuring ~0" minimum focus distances, zoom through capabilities and unbeatable corner sharpness at even wide-open apertures such as F5.6. The SMC-1 and SMC-2 macro wet-optics, when used with the Canon 100mm F2.8 macro lens provide 2x and 4x magnification respectively and the SMC-1 actually provides a resulting image with increased contrast and sharpness than the 100mm lens itself can achieve in air without a magnifier.

High-quality, professional optics
Inspired by the water contact lens designs of decades before, Nauticam is continually developing new optical accessories that raise the bar of what is possible in underwater imaging. Designed with modern lens design software and fully optimized for in-water use, these lenses provide significantly better performance than an in-air lens behind a dome or flat port alone. The NA-A9II can leverage the unparalleled optical quality of Nauticam's Water Contact optics such as the FCP-1, WACP-1 or WWL-1B which offers up to 170º field-of-view, full zoom through, an almost 0" minimum focus distance with supported lenses. For macro, the SMC-1 and SMC-2 deliver tack-sharp super-macro magnification levels up to 4x with the Sony 90mm macro lens.
Viewfinders
The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel-friendly, but many photographers prefer the ease of a magnified viewfinder with an adjustable diopter. Nauticam produces a "straight" 180º enlarging viewfinder and a 45º angled enlarging viewfinder to enhance the ease of close-quarters work often associated with macro shooting. Both viewfinders have high-quality optics and allow bright viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptric adjustment allows personal adjustment to a sharp-as-a-tack standard underwater and viewfinder changes can be executed in less than 30 seconds without using tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been more accessible.
Flash Triggering
Please set the "Sync Terminal Settings" to always, then camera can output a flash signal to the Multi Interface Shoe when shooting.

Build Quality
Nauticam build quality is simply unmatched, using cutting-edge product design and modern, innovative manufacturing techniques that result in trouble-free reliability. A bit like a fine Swiss timepiece, the complexity under the hood results in a trouble-free user experience that just works, and keeps working for years to come.
Integrated Vacuum check and Leak detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-A9III as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (NA25624), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water-tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color-coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action-packed dive.
The OM-System Tough TG-7 is the latest in their line of IP6X rated go-anywhere compact cameras.

THE NAUTICAM NA-S5II UNDERWATER HOUSING
Nauticam’s tagline is “Innovation Underwater”, and the company is dedicated to following through with that promise in the industry, while helping to protect customer investments in existing Nauticam gear whenever possible. The NA-S5II/X is a prime example as this underwater housing is designed to work flawlessly with the Panasonic Lumix S5II and the S5X. This NA-S5II allows completely unrestricted access to all of the camera's controls, positioning critical controls like AF-ON directly at the photographer's finger tips.
The NA-S5II underwater housing features the rotary housing lock which is now standard on their more compact line of mirrorless camera housings. With this feature, you can easily open and close the housing with one hand.
Mission Control
Nauticam engineers are obsessed with usability and the Mission Control philosophy means placing essential controls where they are needed, unrestricted by where they are located on the camera body. Placing the controls as close to the handles as possible and within easy and natural reach, the user can focus on composition and timing their shot while adjusting exposure or focus without taking their eye off the EVF or LCD.
The NA-S5II has a thumb lever on the right rear side of the housing that comfortably accesses AF-On without ever letting go of the handle. An additional lever on the rear of the NA-S5II allows for focus mode switching between C/S/MF, while a multi-directional pad gives the ability to navigate the menu or move the focus points.
EF and L Lens Support
Sigma's MC-21 EF to L adapter allows for the use of Canon and Sigma EF-mount lenses to be used with the S5II/X camera. The NA-S5II Housing is designed to not only accommodate the adapter but to allow for the use of the existing focus and zoom gears for Canon EF-mount lenses for the N120 Canon System along with the existing Canon N120 extension ring and port combinations for those lenses. As more native L-mount lenses become available, those best suited to underwater use will be added to the system. For full compatibility, you can refer to the port chart found here.
Flash Triggering
For rapid-fire manual flash triggering, the NA-S5II is compatible with the Mini Flash Trigger (NA26305) which uses small LEDs to trigger external flashes via Nauticam Universal Fiber Optic Cables (NA26216).
The Panasonic DMW-FL70 flash is not supported within the housing.
Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection electronics are shipped with the NA-S5II as standard equipment. Combined with an optional accessory M14 vacuum valve (NA25624) this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
Many underwater imaging enthusiasts have been anxious to move beyond the limited performance of their compact camera systems but have been reluctant to give up the compact form factor and simplicity of the genre. Other world travelers have started wondering if there is a way to downsize from their DSLR without giving up too much performance. Nauticam has been listening to this increasing interest and their industry leading engineers have responded with the new NA-R50.
The mission statement was clear: Design the most compact and friendly housing possible for Canon’s awarding-winning and remarkably compact EOS R50 mirrorless APS-C camera. The added challenge was making the housing just as simple and straight forward as Nauticam’s legendary compact camera housings, while making it even easier to achieve superior imaging results. The resulting housing represents an entirely new category for Nauticam while maintaining their famous ergonomics and Quality.
NAUTICAM NA-R50 UNDERWATER HOUSING FOR THE CANON EOS R50 CAMERA
Nauticam has always been at the forefront of underwater housing technology. They consistently push the boundaries to create evolutionary, and sometimes revolutionary, products to make imaging creation easier. The NA-R50 Underwater housing is no exception, integrating everything that makes Nauticam's range of housings a favorite among underwater photographers into a small and lightweight package.
The new innovative system is engineered around the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens, since this is by far the most versatile and practical RF lens to use on the Canon RF APS-C format underwater. The port is thus integral to housing and requires no additional maintenance, much like Nauticam’s compact camera systems. This lens provides excellent results in the wide to narrow fish portrait FOV range but is easily married to Nauticam’s superb WWL-1 or WWL-C for exceptionally sharp wide angle coverage with full zoom through while still keeping a modest form factor. Nauticam’s Compact Macro Converter water contact optics can be added for a full “do anything and go anywhere” system that easily fits in a traveler's carry on.
Constructed from rugged aluminum, the NA-R50 housing is not only lighter but also more compact than any previous Canon APS-C system. It's the perfect choice for photographers who want to capture stunning images and videos with best-in-the-industry auto focus, while enjoying the convenience of minimal bulk and maintenance. The housing comes ready to submerge as even the zoom gear is included. Add the R50 camera and RFS 18-45 and you are ready to shoot.
COMPACT AND VERSATILE
The NA-R50 underwater housing dimensions are small enough to hand hold without a tray for ultimate freedom if it is required. Measuring just 238mm (9.3in) wide, 150mm (5.9in) in height and 115mm (4.5) in depth. The NA-R50 has an incredibly small footprint compared to previous APS-C camera housings, making it extremely apealing and travel-friendly.
WHICH WET LENSES SHOULD I PAIR WITH THE NA-R50?
Nauticam has become justifiably famous for their groundbreaking optical designs for underwater. These optics have been a particular passion of Nauticam founder and Managing Director Edward Lai, and several options offer exceptional performance with the NA-R50 underwater system. The magic of the wet lenses is their tremendous versatility, paired with outstanding in-water performance. Both macro and super wide angle interchangeable optics can be available to the underwater photographer on the same dive. A sampling of recommended options are below.
The WWL-1B is a wide angle conversion lens that is an excellent match with the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens. The WWL-1B provides a crispy 130 degree diagonal field of view with the lens at 18mm and allows for full zoom through to about 60 degrees at 45mm. Focus down-to-the-glass performance is available at all focal lengths for amazing close focus wide angle capability. The all glass WWL-1B lens provides sharper over-all performance then any wide angle lens behind a dome on a typical system.
For those wishing for an even smaller wide angle option without any loss of quality, Nauticam's WWL-C provides a compact all glass optic every bit as sharp as the WWL-1B, but with a zoom range offering 116 degrees at 18mm zooming to about 52 degrees at 45mm. Of course, it also focuses to the front optic.
Macro aficionados have options as well. Nauticam strongly recommends the lightweight CMC-1 & CMC-2 lenses for ultimate image quality and better auto-focus performance. Maximum magnification is achieved at a focal length of 45mm. The CMC-1 offers more magnification but is a bit more challenging. CMC-2 still offers a hefty 0.6X magnification but is a bit more forgiving.
FLASH TRIGGERING
With the NA-R50 underwater housing, flash triggering is accomplished by utilizing the Canon EOS R50’s pop-up flash making adding strobes that employ fiber optic connections a seamless integration. Strobes that provide STTL capability with fiber optics will provide the option of full TTL compatibility with the R50.
INTEGRATED VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection electronics are shipped with the NA-R50 as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory M16 vacuum valve (25625) this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.

Integrated DSLR-housing styled handles with ergonomic rubberized grips and stainless steel stiffening brackets add stability and accessory mounting points. The NA-a1 also features dual rear thumb-levers that are easily reached from the handle that access three of the most-used controls on the rear of the camera. The right lever actuates the AF-ON and RECORD buttons while the left lever is mapped to the PLAY button.
Atop the housing on the left side are controls in the form of a MODE dial and FOCUS mode lever. The C1, C2 buttons as well as the EV compensation dial also have direct access from the top of the housing. The C3, which is typically assigned to control switching between the EVF and the LCD screen is easily reachable on the rear of the housing from the left handle.
ACCESSORY PORTS
The NA-a1 has both an M24 port at the front of the housing for both HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity (see sidebar for recommendations) as well as an M14 at the rear for the optional Vacuum Valve (25624). The housing comes with electronics pre-installed for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system. This monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS
Nauticam's wide range of ports and in-house corrective optics are the perfect compliment to the NA-a1's inherent flexibility. Built around the N100 Port System, the NA-a1 supports a wide variety of Sony FE mount lenses, as well as EF mount lenses via adapters. In addition, there are several options available to use the groundbreaking WACP and WACP-2 wide-angle corrective lenses as well as the more compact and in-water removable WWL-1B.
For example, With the Sony SEL1635GM FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM, the WACP 2 brings the original 105º field-of-view to an impressive 128º with sharper corners, an ~0" minimum focus distance and a more natural looking image than would be provided by a standard glass dome port.
FLASH TRIGGERING
Both fiber-optic and electrical strobe triggering options are available. The Nauticam Universal Fiber Optical cables attach to the built-in bulkheads atop the housing and feature modular connections for both Sea&Sea-style bushings and INON threaded connections. Triggering is achieved using the optional Nauticam Mini Flash Trigger for Sony (26302) which uses LEDs powered by an on-board coin-cell battery to generate a manual signal that is transmitter via the optical cables to compatible strobes.

Easy camera installation
The Nauticam system is designed for both owners/operators and landlords and is very easy to set up. With just a pin and an Allen key, the entire mounting and lens control system is set up on the camera base plate outside the housing. This means that the rig can be set up on a table, in good light and with plenty of room to work. Once the camera is mounted on the base plate, the entire system slides into the housing and locks securely into place.
Lens operation
Similar to the ALEXA Mini and Mini LF hoods, the ALEXA 35 hood features an adjustable gear tower that allows you to control focus, iris and zoom via the knobs on the outside of the hood. This diver-controlled device fully meets the needs of a single operator.
For more production-oriented shoots that require remote control, the redesigned Nauticam ALEXA 35 housing features two upper and two lower 15mm rods that allow the use of cforce Plus and cforce mini motors in conjunction with the ARRI Hi-5 handheld unit. Only the upper 15 mm rod is suitable for the larger cforce Plus motors. Unlike the previous generation housings, the motors now drive the lens itself and no longer via the adjustable gear tower. With the standard housing, two motors can be mounted for short primes. If you add the optional 100mm housing extension NA16422, you can mount 3 motors on the 15mm rods, which allows the use of zoom lenses or longer lenses.
The housing also comes with a 3/4′hydroflex bulkhead so that the power, remote control and remote monitoring lines of other Hydroflex rental systems can be used on the Alexa Mini.
A huge range of lenses are supported, from very small standard Zeiss lenses to very large cinema-style zoom lenses. Our port system was tested with the Arri UWZ 9.5-18, the most sophisticated wide-angle lens ever made, and achieved excellent results.

The Nauticam ALEXA 35 underwater housing is equipped with Nauticam's field-proven vacuum check and leak detection system, which provides constant üinformation on the housing's watertight and submersible status. By creating a slight vacuum in the housing with a reliable and compact hand pump, the system can ensure watertightness before entering the water and during the dive. A simple color-coded LED light system, clearly visible on the Rück side of the case, indicates to the user if the vacuum is stable or if the case is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuit so that an audible and visual signal is emitted in the event of water ingress. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, so false alarms due to changes in external temperature or camera heating during an action-packed dive are avoided.
The latest Canon APS-C mirrorless camera is finally here! The Canon EOS R7 utilizes Canon's newest RF mount and boasts a 32.5MP CMOS sensor. Crop-sensor cameras have always been popular with the underwater shooter community and with good reason. Lens choices, size, and weight are just a few of the great features that shooting APS-C cameras has. The EOS R7 gives original Canon 7D and 7D Mark II shooters a great reason to upgrade and Nauticam is ready to help with the NA-R7 housing.
The Canon EOS R7 Camera
The Canon EOS R7 is the latest in Canon's APS-C mirrorless camera lineup which has gained unprecedented demand. It features the RF lens mount which has the same large 54mm diameter but the ability to have larger rear lens elements that are closer to the sensor gives increased corner and outer edge sharpness.
The R7 uses a 32.5MP CMOS sensor with in-body image stabilization which can reduce shake by up to 7 stops. The camera's Dual Pixel II autofocus system was carried over from the pro body EOS R3 and features 651 automatic AF points covering the entire sensor area. The Canon EOS R7 underwater housing from Nauticam
The NA-R7 underwater housing follows suit with Nauticam's drive for innovation. Like the full frame Canon EOS R5, R5 C and R3, the NA-R7 present shooters with the ability to use both the available legacy EF lenses via an adapter in addition to their native RF optics. To support both the legacy and native lenses, Nauticam has designed a N100 to N120 adapter which integrates into the N120 Canon EF port system. Canon's EF to RF mount adapters can be affixed to the camera before insertion into the housing. When using the EOS R7 inside the housing with the adapter and a supported EF lens, the port and extension ring arrangement will be identical to the same setup on a Nauticam Canon N120 DSLR. As the RF-S lens lineup emerges, dedicated port and extension ring combinations will be listed on the new N100 RF-S Port Chart.
Mission Control
Nauticam engineers are obsessed with getting the underwater image maker unfettered access to all the necessary controls, with as many within easy reach of the ergonomic rubberized handles. This Mission Control philosophy extends to the NA-R7 where a dual thumb lever is placed by the right front side accessing the M-Fn and Record buttons. On the rear right side is a thumb lever accessing AF-ON. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback."
Large knurled and rubberized control dials access the camera's "main" and "sub" command dials. The two-stage trigger allows for smooth focus and firing activation. Additional buttons for "Menu", "Focus Point Selection" and others are also easily reached from the handles.
Flash triggering
Flash triggering is achieved via one of two optional Flash Triggers, a manual LED trigger (NA26305) or a TTL Flash Trigger (NA26321) that use the built-in fiber optic bulkheads with optional fiber-optic cables to trigger supported strobes. For controlling strobes that do not support fiber optic flash triggering, a variety of legacy hot-shoe flash control bulkheads are available.
Integrated system for vacuum testing and leak detection
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection electronics are shipped with the NA-R7 as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (NA25624) this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
