The Nauticam underwater housing for the Canon EOS R50
Nauticam has always been at the forefront of underwater gear technology. They üre always pushing the boundaries to develop evolutionary and sometimes revolutionary products that make image making easier. The NA-R50 underwater camera is no exception. It combines everything that makes the Nauticam range of housings a favourite among underwater photographers in a small and lightweight design.
The new, innovative system allows you to capture images with ease.
The new innovative system has been designed around the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens, as this lens is by far the most versatile and practical RF lens that can be used underwater with the Canon RF APS-C format. The mount is therefore integrated into the housing and requires no additional maintenance, similar to the Nauticam compact camera systems. This lens delivers excellent results in wide to narrow fish portraits, but can easily be combined with Nauticam's excellent WWL-1 or WWL-C to achieve exceptionally sharp wide-angle coverage with full zoom, while maintaining the modest form factor. Nauticam's Compact Macro Converter with water contact optics can be added for a complete system that does it all and can be taken anywhere, fitting easily into a traveller's hand luggage.
Made from sturdy aluminium, the NA-R50 body is not only lighter but also more compact than any previous Canon APS-C system. It is the perfect choice for photographers who want to capture stunning images and video with the industry's best autofocus, while enjoying the convenience of minimal bulk and maintenance. The housing comes ready to dive, as even the zoom accessory is included. Add the R50 camera and the RFS 18-45 and you are ready to shoot.
Compact and versatile
The dimensions of the NA-R50 underwater camera are so small that it can be handheld without a mount for maximum freedom when needed. It measures only 238 mm in width, 150 mm in height and 115 mm in depth. Compared to earlier APS-C camera bodies, the NA-R50 has an incredibly small footprint, which makes it appealing and travel-friendly.
Which attachment lens to combine with the NA-R50?
Nauticam has become justly famous for its pioneering underwater optical designs. These optics are a particular passion of Nauticam founder and managing director Edward Lai, and the various options offer exceptional performance with the NA-R50 underwater system. The magic of wet lenses lies in their enormous versatility, coupled with outstanding underwater performance. Both macro and super wide-angle interchangeable lenses can be available to the underwater photographer on the same dive. Below you will find a selection of the recommended options.
The WWL-1Bis a wide-angle converter that is an excellent match for the Canon RF-S 18-45 F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. The WWL-1B offers a razor-sharp 130-degree diagonal field of view at 18mm and allows full zoom up to 60 degrees at 45mm. Focusing down to the glass is possible at all focal lengths and provides an amazing wide-angle capability at close range. The all-glass WWL-1B lens offers a sharper overall performance than any wide-angle lens behind a dome on a conventional system.
For those who want an even smaller wide-angle option without sacrificing quality, Nauticam offers the WWL-C, a compact all-glass lens that is just as sharp as the WWL-1B but offers a zoom range of 116 degrees at 18mm to about 52 degrees at 45mm. Of course, it also focuses on the front optics.
Macro lovers also have a choice. Nauticam recommends the lightweight CMC-1. and CMC-2 lenses for the highest image quality and better autofocus performance. Maximum magnification is achieved at a focal length of 45 mm. The CMC-1 offers more magnification, but is a little more demanding. The CMC-2 still offers a strong 0.6x magnification, but is a little more tolerant.
Flash release
The NA-R50 underwater housing uses the pop-up flash of the Canon EOS R50 to provide seamless integration with fibre-optic flashes. Flashes that offer sTTL capability with fibre optics offer the possibility of full TTL compatibility with the R50.
Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam vacuum inspection and leak detection electronics are supplied as standard with the NA-R50. Combined with the included M16 vacuum valve, this monitoring system provides constant, up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the case is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuitry so that an audible and visual signal is emitted when water is ingressing.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, so false alarms due to changes in external temperature or camera heating during an action-packed dive are avoided.
Marelux housing has the industry leading design that’s not only more compact than other brands but also more simplified in mechanical structure to make it easy to assemble. The Nauticam Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Camera
The NA-R6II underwater housing follows suit with Nauticam's drive for innovation and it supports both the Canon EOS R6 and R6 Mark II. A conversion kit is required for the original R6 and will be provided upon request. Like its predecessors, the NA-R6II presents shooters with the ability to use both the available legacy EF lenses via an adapter in addition to their native RF optics. To support both the legacy and native lenses, Nauticam has integrated the NA-R6II into the N120 port system. Canon's EF to RF mount adapters can be affixed to the camera before insertion into the housing. When using the EOS R6 Mark II inside the housing with the adapter and a supported EF lens, the port and extension ring arrangement will be identical to the same setup on a Nauticam Canon N120 DSLR. With the ever growing RF lens lineup, you can also follow the dedicated N120 Canon RF port chart that is being updated and expanded with each new lens release. Please note that the Canon Control Ring and Drop-in Filter EF to EOS R adapters are not accessible within the housing.
Mission Control
Nauticam engineers are obsessed with getting the underwater image maker unfettered access to all the necessary controls, with as many within easy reach of the ergonomic rubberized handles. This Mission Control philosophy extends to the NA-R6II where a dual thumb lever and sub-lever are placed by the right handle. The dual thumb lever on the front right side activates the "M-Fn" and "Rec" buttons while the sub-lever on the right rear side corresponds to the "AF-ON" button. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback" for easy image review.
Large knurled and rubberized control dials access the camera's "main" and "sub" command dials. The two-stage trigger allows for smooth focus and firing activation. Additional buttons for "Menu", "Focus Point Selection" and others are also easily reached from the handles
Flash Triggering
Flash triggering is achieved via one of two optional Flash Triggers, a manual LED trigger (NA26301) or a TTL Flash Trigger (NA26321) that use the built-in fiber optic bulkheads with optional fiber-optic cables to trigger supported strobes. For controlling strobes that do not support fiber optic flash triggering, a variety of legacy hot-shoe flash control bulkheads are available.
Integrated Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection electronics are shipped with the NA-R6 as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (NA25625) this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.

Intelligent operation
Nauticam engineers are obsessed with functionality, and this is evident in the placement of the most important controls. Regardless of where the controls are located on the camera, the Nauticam housing puts them where you need them underwater.
High-quality professional optics
Optical performance is just as important as camera performance, and this becomes even more important given the challenges of filming underwater. This range of dry and wet lenses has been developed using commercial lens design software to achieve truly unrivalled underwater image quality for both stills and video in macro and wide-angle situations. The WACP-1 and WACP-2 achieve an ultra-wide 130º field of view with less distortion than conventional optics and offer a minimum focus distance of ~0", zoom through and unbeatable corner sharpness even at wide open apertures such as F5.6. The SMC-1 and SMC-2 macro wet lenses offer 2x and 4x magnification respectively when combined with the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G VR macro lens. The SMC-1 even delivers an image with higher contrast and sharpness than the 105mm lens itself can achieve in air without magnification.

A professional grade, compact waterproof housing for Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III mirrorless micro four-thirds cameras. Perfect for any application in or around the water from scuba to surf to pool.
This housing requires the addition of a compatible DLM Lens Port for waterproof operation. Lens Port not included.
The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III is a powerful compact interchangeable lens camera. Customizable controls, a TTL flash hotshoe, and a titling LCD screen make it a good choice for underwater use. The E-M10 Mark III features a 16MP CMOS sensor, 4K/UHD video at 24p and 30p, and a 121-point contrast-detect AF system.
True TTL exposure
Proper strobe exposure is the #1 most important contributor to sharp and colorful underwater photos, particularly below 30ft/10m. This is the only housing to include an integrated TTL circuit fine-tuned to the Olympus O-MD E-M10 Mark III flash exposure protocol for the fastest and most accurate exposure possible.
TTL communication by electrical sync cord improves camera battery life and recycle time, meaning you get many times more strobe-lit shots when you need them.
The TTL circuit is powered by the strobe for zero maintenance and no batteries to change. Exposure compensation in TTL mode is supported using the camera's built-in control.
At this time, only Ikelite DS strobes are capable of powering the TTL circuitry. Non-Ikelite strobes featuring an electrical bulkhead may be attached by sync cord but must be used in manual exposure modes only.
Built-in Flash
The camera's built-in flash may be used to trigger external fiber optic strobes. Two fiber optic ports are provided on the top of the housing for attachment of compatible fiber optic cords (see compatibility information below). The built-in flash is not suitable for lighting a subject underwater.
Constant-On Lighting
A bright constant-on video light can be used instead of or in addition to a flash. A constant-on light is not as bright as a strobe flash. Constant-on lights do provide added versatility because they can be used for focus assist and for improved colors when shooting video.
Light is absorbed as it travels through even short distances underwater, making colors appear dull or monochromatic. To preserve the natural colors of your subject, it's important to stay within arm's reach—no more than 3-4 feet (1m) away.
There is a simple rule that brighter is better underwater. A high-quality lighting system can produce magazine quality results with almost any camera system.
Extensive Lens Support
High quality yet affordable optics are available for an extensive range of micro four-thirds lenses from wide angle fisheye to macro.
The DLM port system is designed to be tough enough for heavy surf and without complex mechanisms for supreme reliability in remote locations.
Our custom optical grade acrylic domes provide the color, clarity, and durability of glass at a fraction of the travel weight and cost. Glass flat ports are available for macro lenses.
Lens port sold separately. A compatible lens port is required for waterproof use.
Controls and Ergonomics
A trigger-type shutter lever control is designed for optimal sensitivity and a natural motion when shooting underwater. The standard control hugs the side of the housing for comfortable use when hand holding.
The AEL/AFL button is accessed by a lever for convenient access to customizable functions. Try using back button focus via the AFL button for shooting small or fast moving subjects.
Both shutter and AEL/AFL / Fn1 levers can be easily extended using the optional Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.95 for more comfortable reach when using a handle grip.
Soft-touch knobs are easy to grip with or without gloves on and provide quick access to important controls including front and rear dials and the mode control.
Hard anodized aluminum push buttons are extremely lightweight and resistant to salt build-up and corrosion. The video record start/stop button is bright red anodized to stand out so that you never miss the action. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.
Camera Installation
The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or when changing the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate features a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so that it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.
Viewfinders
The included Supereye Viewfinder provides an enhanced view of the camera's optical viewfinder when viewed through a dive mask.
Get the brightest and sharpest view of the camera's OLED EVF by adding an optional Magnified Viewfinder. The Supereye removes quickly and easily for the attachment of an Straight Magnified Viewfinder # 6890 or 45° Magnified Viewfinder (Type 1) # 6891.1.
The camera's large, super-bright LCD screen is viewable through the back of the housing and can be tilted prior to installation in the housing for a a better view underwater.
Accessory Mounting
Two 1/4-20 threaded mounting points are included on the bottom of the housing for the attachment of a tray and handle grips. Handles provide improved ergonomics underwater and are the foundation for your lighting mounts.
If you're shooting with two strobe or lighting arms, then a top handle can be added to carry to and from the dive site. Top handles are available in a Cable Grip # 4080.07 or Aluminum Top Handle # 4080.08. The rigid aluminum version provides additional mounting points for lighting and accessories.
Sealing and Testing
There is no greater assurance than being able to see your camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. Once the housing is closed you can see the o-ring form a solid, waterproof seal.
A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is provided on the side of the housing for easily installation of the optional Vacuum Kit # 47012. A hand pump with gauge allows you to draw a vacuum on the housing to simulate water pressure and check for leaks prior to entering the water.
Every unit is water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m) before it leaves our facility in Indianapolis.
Durability and Corrosion Free Performance
A custom ABS-PC blend housing provides strength and performance year after year with minimal maintenance. The ABS-PC material is fundamentally corrosion-proof and considerably lighter than aluminum. The specially formulated color deflects the sun to keep your camera running cooler, longer. Compared to black or clear housings, the light color provides superior contrast for enhanced view of the camera, LCD screen, and o-ring seal.
Made in USA
Ikelite products are designed, built and tested in the USA. We use locally sourced, top-grade materials. Our housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit and function. We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the best reputation for service within the dive Industry.
Compatibility
Differences in lens and control placement prevent the older Olympus O-MD E-M10 Mark I or II cameras from being used in this housing. The E-M10 Mark III camera is not compatible in any other Ikelite housing models.

Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.
The Panasonic GH5 brought high-end video specs to the micro four thirds platform, setting the bar for what was possible in this compact form-factor. Since the GH5, the open-source MFT actor has grown, with a massive variety of lenses available and camera specifications that rival or exceed some of their larger siblings. The GH6 follows closely in the GH5's footsteps, adding incredible new video features and even some notable still image enhancements. The GH5, GH5s, and GH5II have been well represented in the underwater imaging space and the arrival of the GH6 is sure to be met with serious enthusiasm given the spec sheet and early reviews.
The Panasonic GH6 Camera
The GH6 is built around a brand-new 25MP CMOS sensor paired to Panasonic's Venus processor. The new sensor, assisted by the addition of a CFExpress B card slot and a built-in cooling fan, can capture up to 5.7K video in the edit-friendly ProRes codec. While ProRes is currently limited to the 17:9 full 5.7K at 29.97p frame-rate recording mode, future firmware updates promised expanding this to all 4K and HD modes as well. While not in ProRes, the GH6 can record 10-bit 4:2:0 DCI or UHD 4K at up to 120fps using LongGOP H.264 compression. Dropping that frame rate to 60p allows for 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, All-i recording at a heavy 800Mbps bitrate.
If 120fps is not slow enough, switching to HD opens up the possibility of 10-bit H.264 video at 240fps and even up to 300fps using Variable Frame Rate (VFR) mode which does not allow for audio recording. The menu for the various recording modes can be filtered to ease finding your desired mode and a personalized menu or 'My List' of selected modes can be created.
When shooting at 60fps or lower, the GH6's Dynamic Range Boost mode can be activated. This mode uses both a low-gain and high-gain simultaneous readout from the sensor to create a final image with up to 13-stops of dynamic range. The GH6 also features Panasonic's full V-log profile which maximizes dynamic range for post-processing. The GH5 model only had a limited version of this profile.
With a full-size HDMI port, the GH6 plays well with external monists and recorders, outputting a clean 4K/60p signal. Future firmware updates promise 4K/120P RAW output over HDMI.
Not just a video camera, the GH6 also has notable improvements for still imaging. A new handheld mode for the high-resolution 100MP imaging mode expands the situations in which this can be used as previous versions required a tripod.
For both stills and video, improvements in Autofocus and lower noise levels promise even better performance and image quality than was found in the GH5. Controls such as the prominent Record button remain similar aside from a button that gives direct access to the camera's audio settings and an additional custom function button on the front of the camera. The screen receives a refresh, as does the electronic viewfinder.
THE NAUTICAM NA-GH6 UNDERWATER HOUSING
The NA-GH6 builds on the pioneering NA-GH5 which supports the GH5, GH5S and GH5II camera models. Designed around the N85 Port System, the range of lens and port combinations for the NA-GH6 is unparalleled. Image quality can be improved even further with Nauticam's lineup of water-contact optics. The NA-A7SIII features a double thumb lever within easy reach of the right handle that triggers the AF-ON and RECORD controls of the camera. A thumb lever on the left side toggles the PLAYBACK button. The back panel of the housing provides access to all other rear camera controls including a multidirectional pad.
Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-A7SIII as standard equipment. With the addition of the optional M14 Vacuum Valve (NA25624) this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.

High-quality, professional optics
Inspired by the water contact lens designs of decades before, Nauticam is continually developing new optical accessories that raise the bar of what is possible in underwater imaging. Designed with modern lens design software and fully optimized for in-water use, these lenses provide significantly better performance than an in-air lens behind a dome or flat port alone. The NA-A9II can leverage the unparalleled optical quality of Nauticam's Water Contact optics such as the FCP-1, WACP-1 or WWL-1B which offers up to 170º field-of-view, full zoom through, an almost 0" minimum focus distance with supported lenses. For macro, the SMC-1 and SMC-2 deliver tack-sharp super-macro magnification levels up to 4x with the Sony 90mm macro lens.
Viewfinders
The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel-friendly, but many photographers prefer the ease of a magnified viewfinder with an adjustable diopter. Nauticam produces a "straight" 180º enlarging viewfinder and a 45º angled enlarging viewfinder to enhance the ease of close-quarters work often associated with macro shooting. Both viewfinders have high-quality optics and allow bright viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptric adjustment allows personal adjustment to a sharp-as-a-tack standard underwater and viewfinder changes can be executed in less than 30 seconds without using tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been more accessible.
Flash Triggering
Please set the "Sync Terminal Settings" to always, then camera can output a flash signal to the Multi Interface Shoe when shooting.
MENU -> (Exposure/Color) -> (Flash) -> (Sync Terminal Settings) -> Always
Build Quality
Nauticam build quality is simply unmatched, using cutting-edge product design and modern, innovative manufacturing techniques that result in trouble-free reliability. A bit like a fine Swiss timepiece, the complexity under the hood results in a trouble-free user experience that just works, and keeps working for years to come.
Integrated Vacuum check and Leak detection System
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-A9III as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve (NA25624), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water-tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color-coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action-packed dive.

THE NAUTICAM NA-a1 UNDERWATER HOUSING
Nauticam has supported the Sony Alpha full-frame line since the original a7 with professional grade aluminum housings that offer intuitive access to all the controls and functions of the cameras. As the cameras have evolved, so have the Nauticam housings. The NA-a1 underwater housing provides fingertip access to all key camera controls in a rugged and reliable aluminum underwater housing. Ergonomic camera control access is one of the defining strengths of a Nauticam housing, and the NA-a1 continues this tradition.
Integrated DSLR-housing styled handles with ergonomic rubberized grips and stainless steel stiffening brackets add stability and accessory mounting points. The NA-a1 also features dual rear thumb-levers that are easily reached from the handle that access three of the most-used controls on the rear of the camera. The right lever actuates the AF-ON and RECORD buttons while the left lever is mapped to the PLAY button.
Atop the housing on the left side are controls in the form of a MODE dial and FOCUS mode lever. The C1, C2 buttons as well as the EV compensation dial also have direct access from the top of the housing. The C3, which is typically assigned to control switching between the EVF and the LCD screen is easily reachable on the rear of the housing from the left handle.
ACCESSORY PORTS
The NA-a1 has both an M24 port at the front of the housing for both HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity (see sidebar for recommendations) as well as an M14 at the rear for the optional Vacuum Valve (25624). The housing comes with electronics pre-installed for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system. This monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS
Nauticam's wide range of ports and in-house corrective optics are the perfect compliment to the NA-a1's inherent flexibility. Built around the N100 Port System, the NA-a1 supports a wide variety of Sony FE mount lenses, as well as EF mount lenses via adapters. In addition, there are several options available to use the groundbreaking WACP and WACP-2 wide-angle corrective lenses as well as the more compact and in-water removable WWL-1B.
For example, With the Sony SEL1635GM FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM, the WACP 2 brings the original 105º field-of-view to an impressive 128º with sharper corners, an ~0" minimum focus distance and a more natural looking image than would be provided by a standard glass dome port.
FLASH TRIGGERING
Both fiber-optic and electrical strobe triggering options are available. The Nauticam Universal Fiber Optical cables attach to the built-in bulkheads atop the housing and feature modular connections for both Sea&Sea-style bushings and INON threaded connections. Triggering is achieved using the optional Nauticam Mini Flash Trigger for Sony (26302) which uses LEDs powered by an on-board coin-cell battery to generate a manual signal that is transmitter via the optical cables to compatible strobes.

True Sony TTL
We would like to introduce an important term that has been missing from all previous discussions about taking the Sony Alpha 7 series underwater: TTL. When your subject is quickly approaching, you'll be glad to have the only housing that provides TTL support for Alpha 7 cameras. An integrated TTL circuit features model-specific encoding, which has been fine-tuned to Sony's latest flash exposure protocol. The circuit is powered by the strobe for zero maintenance and no batteries to change. Exposure compensation in TTL mode is supported using the camera's built-in control. At this time, only Ikelite DS strobes are capable of powering the circuitry. SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos strobes will still enjoy fast recycle times and improved battery life, but must be used in manual exposure modes only.
A fast and reliable strobe connection is essential to getting the shot underwater. This housing provides a direct electrical connection to the camera's external flash hot shoe. Cord attachment is as easy as screwing in a lightbulb, and the threaded fit prevents accidental detachment during use. The bulkhead connection has been moved to the top of the housing to keep cords out of your way and reduce strain on the cord ends. A variety of sync cord terminations are available for Ikelite, SEA&SEA, INON, or Nikonos strobes for ultimate versatility.
The Lens Support You Want
It couldn't be faster to change ports than this system—just press the port on and snap the four locks closed. This housing accepts a variety of ports to accommodate all of the most popular zoom, macro, and wide angle lenses from Sony, Canon, Sigma, and more. Our custom optical grade acrylic domes provide the color, clarity, and durability of glass at a fraction of the travel weight.
Our new soft touch lobed zoom knob puts a unique system of universal zoom gears right at your fingertips. We provide two zoom sets with each housing, one for use with most popular larger diameter zoom lenses and a second designed for use with smaller diameter zoom lenses. Both sets are lightweight and easy to install with no modification to the lens required. A variety of dome and flat ports attach with four locking latches for maximum security and quick changes between dives.
Great Handling
A compact mounting tray attaches to the camera's tripod attachment point and slides into the front of the housing simply and securely. The mounting tray features a 1/4-20 tripod mount so that it doesn't need to be removed when you switch to surface photography.
Sony created a fantastic control set for this camera series, mimicked in the housing by larger controls and push buttons which are easy to access even with thick gloves. Whenever possible, controls are located in the same configuration as on the camera to replicate the muscle memory and familiarity you've developed with your camera on the surface. Control symbols laser engraved into the back of the housing will never peel off or fade even with years of use.
With a system of this caliber, a tray with handle is essential for the attachment of lighting and comfortable handling in a wide variety of shooting scenarios. This housing includes a balanced aluminum tray with our signature quick release handle for easy attachment and removal of strobes and video lights. This unique handle is curved slightly to fit the natural curvature of your hand, and features a soft over-mold which makes it a delight to hold. The complete tray and handle detaches quickly with the removal of two screws for travel. A new modular tray provides a 1/4-20 tripod mount and allows for the attachment of a second right-hand handle to the existing tray.
See the O-Ring Seal
An o-ring works best when it's true to its original form. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. For added reassurance, there's no substitute for inspecting the actual o-ring seal through the back of your housing once it is closed. Polycarbonate is fundamentally corrosion-resistant for easy maintenance year after year.
We are proud to offer the only housing and lighting system for Sony Alpha a7 series cameras that is 100% designed, built, and tested in the USA. Our housings are handmade and individually inspected for fit, function and waterproof integrity. The average assembly technician is a certified scuba diver and has over 16 years of experience building Ikelite products. We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the most accessible and responsive customer service staff in the dive industry.
Compatibility
The newer Mark II generation of a7-series cameras are very similar to the the original a7-series cameras, but not interchangeable. Differences in size and lens placement prevent the Sony Alpha a7 Mark I, a7R Mark I, or a7S Mark I cameras from being used in this housing. Please see product # 6843.71.

The Nauticam NA-R1 underwater housing for the Canon EOS R1
The NA-R1 underwater housing follows Nauticam's drive for innovation.
Operation
Nauticam's engineers are obsessed with giving the underwater photographer unhindered access to all the necessary controls, as many of which as possible are within reach of the ergonomic, rubberised handles. -
Large and rubberised control dials allow access to the camera's main and secondary controls. The two-stage shutter release enables smooth focussing and release. Additional buttons for "menu", "focus point selection" and others are also easily accessible from the grips.
Integrated vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam vacuum control and leak detection electronics are part of the standard equipment of the NA-R1. In combination with an optional vacuum valve, this monitoring system constantly provides up-to-date information on the watertight and submersible condition of the housing. A simple, colour-coded LED light system indicates to the user that the vacuum is stable or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is integrated into the same circuit so that an audible and visual signal is emitted in the event of water ingress.
THE CANON EOS R3 CAMERA
The Canon EOS R3 in all respects appears to be the mirrorless sibling of the 1DX Mark III DSLR, clearly aimed at fulfilling many of the same roles while offering some additional capabilities through the use of the electronic viewfinder and the larger RF lens mount. The full-frame 24.1MP Stacked CMOS sensor, in addition to having incredible low-light performance, can also capture full-width 6K video in both Raw and compressed formats at up to 60fps. The R3 is paired to Canon's industry leading Dual Pixel AF system with 100% frame coverage and the now revived Eye AF system.
DUAL PIXEL AF II
Canon's Dual Pixel autofocus system has long been a favorite of underwater users, especially when it comes to tacking subjects. With the R3, the system adds an additional 'Animal' recognition mode which might make the system even more reliable at following moving subjects. Frame coverage is 100% with 1053 zones to ensure accurate focus wherever the subject may be.
LOW LIGHT PERFORMANCE
The ability to increase a camera's ISO with little penalty is of critical importance to underwater shooters for both stills and video as shooting with higher F-stop values delivers sharper corners and higher shutter speeds mean less motion blur. The higher video frame rates also benefit by allowing the shooter to maintain a 180º shutter while still maintaining adequate aperture values. When using color correction filters, which can often remove more than a full stop of light, compensation via ISO is not as much of an issue for overall image quality. Maintaining dynamic range, even at high ISO levels is also important for those shooting still images using natural light or in poor water conditions.
ENHANCED CONTROLS
The R3 features an additional control wheel located at the upper right rear of the camera which doubles as the mode control. This wheel can be assigned a variety of functions such as ISO and is adjusted by a dedicated control wheel on the housing within easy reach of the right handle.
VIDEO CAPABILITIES
The Canon R3 can capture 6K video at up to 60fps in either Raw or more compressed formats. The 6K capture uses the full sensor width which means no loss in field-of-view. 12-bit 6K capture is possible in both uncompressed Canon Raw or compressed Raw light formats. 10-bit H.265 is also possible in both the HDR PQ and Canon Log3 gamma curves to maximize dynamic range for post processing while maintaining smaller file sizes than a Raw format. It's also possible (when using supported cards) to simultaneously record 10-bit 4:2:2 DCI 4K 60p video. For those looking for higher frame rates, 10-bit 4:2:2 compressed 4K/120fps can also be captured, downsampled from the full sensor width. A natively sampled 4K S35 crop is also an option, allowing for more magnification or the use of APS-C lenses. The R3 also outputs a clean 6K signal over HDMI via an HDMI Micro Type D connector. Direct custom white balance in live view is also now possible, making a critical function for underwater video even easier.
STABILIZATION
The R3 features 5-axis In Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) which can offer up to 8 stops of correction allowing for even smoother video and less camera movement related blur.
LARGE ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDER
The R3's EVF is an OLED 5.76M-dot that features an OVF simulation mode which leverages. the large dynamic range of the OLED screen to reproduce a scene the way it would look through an optical viewfinder. The lower dynamic range of electronic viewfinders has always made them more difficult to use underwater, especially in high contrast or backlit scenes. This function can easily be switched on and off by assigning it to a custom function button. When using the Electronic Shutter, which has an X-Sync speed of 1/180sec, the EVF delivers true no-blackout shooting up to 30fps.
Example setup
THE NAUTICAM NA-R3 UNDERWATER HOUSING
The Nauticam NA-R3 professional aluminum underwater housing for the Canon EOS R3 mirrorless full frame camera is a tru hybrid shooting solution, just as the R3 itself. Nauticam has continuously supported both the Canon pro-level DSLR lineup as well as the growing full-frame RF-mount mirrorless cameras with innovative underwater housings and the new NA-R3 is the combination of all those technologies. Blending elements of our 1D series housings with those for the R series, the NA-R3 will be the most capable housing for the R3 available.
MISSION CONTROL
Nauticam engineers design each housing to insure that controls are placed where they are needed most and within easy reach of a natural hand position. The NA-R3 features large knurled control dials for the main and sub-command dials as well as an additional shoulder dial for the customizable control wheel of the R3. A fourth control wheel, near the front of the left handle can articulate the ring of the optional EF-to-RF lens adapter when using EF lenses. There is a dual thumb lever on the right side for Record and AF-ON as well as single levers for M-Fn and Fn2. A lever on the left side actuates the Pv control which can change between exposure preview and OVF simulation modes on the EVF. An additional dual thumb lever on the left side is for Playback and Magnification.
HDMI 2.0 AND MOUNTING POINTS
The R3 can output clean 6K 60p over HDMI and the NA-R3 features a large bore M24 bulkhead to support an HDMI 2.0 connection to an external monitor or recorder. Mounting the monitor or recorder or other accessories is even easier with 3x 1/4"-20 mounting holes as well as an additional M10 mounting point atop the housing. Check the resources sidebar for supported monitor/recorder housings and recommended accessories.
FLASH TRIGGERING
Flash triggering can be accomplished via the two included M14 electronic bulkheads (One is pre-installed in the M24 bulkhead via a removable M26-M14 adapter). If using fiber-optic triggering, the built-in fiber optic bulkheads can be used with either the optional manual LED or TTL-flash triggers to provide the desired type of strobe power control.
PREMIUM PROFESSIONAL OPTICS
The NA-R3 is built around the N120 Canon RF-mount Port System which supports a wide array of Canon RF mount lenses with a selection of optical glass and acrylic ports. With lens-removal controls for both EF and RF mount lenses, the NA-R3 can support both lens mount types without modification to the housing. The EF-RF lens adapter is accommodated inside the housing which allows for the use of the N120 Canon EF-mount Port System without any additional extension rings. When switching between an EF and RF lens, the camera must be removed to install or remove the adapter. The Nauticam lineup of Premium Professional Optics can deliver unparalleled optical quality and expanded creative options. When used with the Canon RF 14-35 F/4 IL USM lens, the WACP-2 creates a stunning 140º field-of-view while maintaining an incredibly natural looking image and excellent corner sharpness. The SMC-1 delivers 2.3x macro magnification to the RF 100mm macro lens while the SMC-2 delivers 3.3x.
VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM
The housing comes with electronics pre-installed for Nauticam's Vacuum Check and Leak Detection system, requiring only the optional M16 Vacuum Valve (25625). This monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.

MORE AND MORE CUSTOMIZABLE!
Supplied with only the connections for the optical fiber, the housing has been designed with three M16x1 connections and one M24x1 connection, for total freedom in the choice of the conformation of the equipment. When ordering, you can select your preferred lighting control system choosing between Trigger, Sincro N5 or S6 and your right port system. Through the different combinations between ports and extension rings it is possible to use most of the lenses on the market.
Various accessories can be used by means of an M8 hole located at the top of the case and two M6 threaded holes located at the bottom. To make it even more unique, have your name or logo engraved.
SAFETY IS IMPORTANT!
The locking pins on the back are made of stainless steel and penetrate the shell for added strength and security. The housing is made of aluminum, resistant and anti-corrosion, anodized in the unmistakable red color. The classic double o-ring seal is on all moving and removable parts ensures an optimal watertight seal. The camera is held straight, centered and in place by a mounting plate with a safety catch, which slips nimbly into the housing. NNo risk of sudden infiltration. A red humidity alarm inside the case is powered by a user-replaceable battery and instantly signals an increase in humidity in a critical area. Watertightness is guaranteed up to a maximum depth of 100 meters.

THE CANON EOS R5 CAMERA
The Canon EOS R5 is the latest in Canon's full-frame mirrorless camera lineup which has gained unprecedented demand. It features the RF lens mount which has the same large 54mm diameter but the ability to have larger rear lens elements that are closer to the sensor gives increased corner and outer edge sharpness.
The R5 uses an all new 45MP CMOS sensor with in-body image stabilization which can reduce shake by up to 8 stops. The camera's Dual Pixel autofocus system uses 1053 autofocus points across the entire frame. It is also capable of recording 8K video at 24p or 30p and 4K at up to 120p.
The EOS R5 can also use the large EF-mount lens lineup via three optional adapters, a simple EF to R adapter, one which supports the customizable control ring and another that features a drop-in filter mount.

THE NAUTICAM NA-R5 UNDERWATER HOUSING FOR THE CANON EOS R CAMERA
The NA-R5 underwater housing follows suit with Nauticam's drive for innovation. Both the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R present shooters with the ability to use both the available legacy EF lenses via an adapter in addition to their native RF optics. To support both the legacy and native lenses, Nauticam has integrated the NA-R5 into the N120 port system. Canon's EF to RF mount adapters can be affixed to the camera before insertion into the housing. When using the EOS R5 inside the housing with the adapter and a supported EF lens, the port and extension ring arrangement will be identical to the same setup on a Nauticam Canon N120 DSLR. As the RF lens lineup emerges, dedicated port and extension ring combinations will be listed on the Port Chart. Two lens release buttons, one for RF and one for EF lenses used with the optional Canon adapter, are located on the front of the housing to make lens removal through the port opening simple.
Mission Control
Nauticam engineers are obsessed with getting the underwater image maker unfettered access to all the necessary controls, with as many within easy reach of the ergonomic rubberized handles. This Mission Control philosophy extends to the NA-R5 where a dual thumb lever and dual sub-lever are placed by the right handle. The upper thumb lever activates the "AF-On" and the lower the "Q" buttons while the sub-lever corresponds to the "M-Fn" and "Record" buttons. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback" as well as a dedicated switch to change from using LCD to the EVF.
Large knurled and rubberized control dials access the camera's "main" and "sub" command dials. The two-stage trigger allows for smooth focus and firing activation. Additional buttons for "Menu", "Focus Point Selection" and others are also easily reached from the handles.
An additional control wheel is located on the left side of the housing and will interface with the control ring on the supported EF to EOS R Mount Adapter with Control Ring using the optional gear (NA19561).
The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection electronics are shipped with the NA-R5 as standard equipment. Combined with an accessory vacuum valve this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing.
