THE NAUTICAM KOMODO HOUSING

The Nauticam Komodo housing is officially RED APPROVED.  The housing is engineered in a similar fashion to previous Epic LT and DSMC2 LT housings, providing the most compact and travel friendly system possible.  Komodo offers seamless integration with DSLR lenses and the same N120 port system used in Nauticam DSLR and Cinema systems.  Enjoy unmatched user friendly setup and intuitive operation including tool-less setup and tear down in minutes.  Batteries can be swapped without ever removing the camera from the housing, and lens changes can be accomplished in seconds.

The Nauticam Komodo housing uses the N120 Cinema port system, shared with Nauticam's other N120 platform cameras which allows for easy transition to the Nauticam Komodo from other N120 Nauticam systems. The N120 system also provides access to Nauticam's line of professional premium optics such as the WACP-1/2 and SMC-1/2.

The housing also features adjustable handles with easy access to the cinema style zoom and focus knobs.  On top of the housing is a 1/4"-20 cheese plate which allows for a wide variety of accessory mounting points.

The Nauticam Komodo is also backed by Nauticam's 2 year warranty.

LENS SUPPORT

The Komodo features a Canon RF lens mount, but currently RED is only offering support of Canon EF lenses.  The Nauticam Komodo housing offers full support of the Canon EF to EOS R Adaptor along with the Canon EF to EOS R Adaptor with Variable ND Filter.  The left side of the housing features an easily accessible command wheel for smooth ND changes.  Once RED releases RF lens support, the Nauticam Komodo housing will be ready and fully compatible.   Regardless of EF or RF lens selection, changing lenses is quick, easy and doesn't require any tools.  Note that when changing between RF and EF lenses, the camera must be removed from the housing to remove or install the RF to EF adapter.  Nauticam is constantly testing new lenses to provide optimized port and extension combinations. Large cinema-styled control wheels on the housing, located within easy reach of the handles, provide precise manual focus and zoom control with supported lenses when used with the corresponding lens gear set.

Not being limited to using DSLR lenses is crucial for cinema systems and the Nauticam Komodo housing, when used with the 16410 N120 to N200 Port Adapter can support the use of Cinema Lenses and the associated N200 Port System.  Installation is quick, easy and requires no tools allowing seamless lens switching in the field - even when changing between DSLR and Cinema lenses.

INTERNAL MONITOR SUPPORT

The Komodo has a built-in monitor on top of the camera. The Nauticam Komodo does feature a large window for using the Komodo's built in monitor to be used for an extremely streamlined solution.  If an additional monitoring options in requires, the Atomos Shinobi SDI monitor is an ideal lightweight monitoring solution for the RED Komodo.  The Shinobi Monitor Back option Komodo Housing supports the use of the Atomos Shinobi SDI monitor inside rear of the housing allowing the monitor to be viewed by the camera operator from a natural filming position.  The monitor back features control buttons for the on-screen buttons of the Shinobi.

EXTERNAL MONITOR SUPPORT

The Atomos Shinobi SDI monitor can also be mounted in the external Nauticam NA-Shinobi-S housing and connected via SDI bulkheads and cables allowing greater flexibility when positioning the monitor on the Nauticam Komodo housing.

The system supports Canon BP- batteries and the housing will fit up to two Canon BP-975 batteries with the standard housing back.  When using the Shinobi Monitor Back, dual BP-955 can be used. Swapping batteries in as simple as opening the housing as the camera does not need to be removed to access the batteries.

ETHERNET REMOTE CONTROL

While the Nauticam Komodo housing is engineered to allow for full control byt he operator, it also supports an ethernet surface feed in 5m (pole cam) and 45m (studio) lengths. Within the housing, there is space to install a small ethernet router which would allow for full control of the camera at the surface through the RedControl App.

VACUUM CHECK AND LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM

The Nauticam Komodo housing features Nauticam's field-tested Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System that provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. By drawing a slight vacuum inside the housing using a reliable and compact manual hand-pump, the system is able to insure water-tightness before entering the water as well as throughout the dive. A simple color-coded LED lighting system, easily visible at the rear of the housing lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.

SmallHD 502 Bright (HD-SDI) Underwater Housing by Nauticam
The SmallHD 502 Bright monitor is an incredibly light and sharp 5-inch daylight viewable field monitor and the perfect complement to a Nauticam underwater video system. The Bright version of the 502 adds 1000 nit daylight viewable brightness to the already stunning 5?, 1920 x 1080 Full HD Display. The 441 PPI monitor comes equipped with an amazing suite of software tools for image monitoring in a compact form factor. This version of the NA-502B is setup for an HDMI camera connection, see NA-502B-S for an HD-SDI camera connection. THE SMALLHD 502 BRIGHT MONITOR There aren’t enough good things that can be said about this screen. Pixel density (the specification that results in sharpness) now sits at 441 PPI (higher than an iPhone 8). The monitor is capable of displaying 100% of the REC 709 color space allowing for accurate judgement of color and exposure even in bright daylight conditions. The monitor feels immediately familiar, almost identical in size to your favorite smart phone. A rubberized joystick is used to effortlessly flip through video “pages”. Each page accepts multiple imagine analysis tools, configured by the user for their individual needs. EXPOSURE-TOOLS EXPOSURE ASSIST (FALSE COLOR) This overlay mode "paints" areas of the image that have reached a certain brightness value allowing the shooter to see what parts of the image may be over or underexposed. The colors used to show these luminance values can be customized as well. ZEBRA A slightly simpler version of the Exposure Assistant this tool "paints" areas of the image with a stripe pattern when they reach a pre-set brightness value allowing you to quickly see areas that may be in danger of being over or under-exposed. You can run two zebra overlays at once allowing you to monitor both highlights and shadows simultaneously. This tool does not change the underlying color of the image on the display making it a less obtrusive option than False Color overlays. WAVEFORM The waveform shows you the brightness of the image as a map, matching the screen from left to right. This tool can also be set to RGB mode in which case it monitors Chrominance (Color) as well as Luminance (Brightness). The RGB and RGB Parade modes will also help judge color balance (i.e. white balance), especially useful to underwater shooters. RGB-PARADE (HISTOGRAM) This tool shows an RGB Luminance Histogram that allows for easy judgement of each channel and the overall image's exposure. FOCUS TOOLS PIXEL-ZOOM Zoom in on any page by simply pushing the joystick up. This allows for accurate judgement of critical focus. FOCUS ASSIST This mode highlights the sharpest areas of the image with an assignable color. This allows for quick an accurate judgement of focus without having to zoom into the image. PEAKING This is a more subtle version of Focus Assist that does not change the underlying image as much yet still shows the outline of the sharpest parts of the image in an assignable color. NAUTICAM NA-502B-H UNDERWATER HOUSING Nauticam has supported both the 501 and 502 models of SmallHD montiors and continue to evolve and innovate with the new NA-502B for the 502 Bright Monitor. With more cameras offering video capability the need for an efficient and bright external monitor is only growing. With Nauticam's bulkhead system, attaching and detaching the cable system can be done quickly in the field. This means you can easily switch from a still photo setup to a video setup in between dives, quickly removing the monitor and even installing a magnifying viewfinder to the housing. The NA-502B housing provides access to all monitor controls, and the complete menu system is available in the housing, and at depth. The Nauticam NA-502B housing features the rugged build quality and advanced manufacturing expertise our user base has come to expect. The joystick navigation system used by the 502 Bright monitor is translated to four directional arrows, a center select button, and the dedicated “back” button. The interface is simple, but elegant, and perfectly suited to the underwater environment. The form factor of 502 Bright monitor is perfectly suited for an underwater housing, with HDMI / HD-SDI cables nestled between two readily available Canon LP-E6 Batteries that power the monitor. HDMI and HD-SDI are both supported by a single housing, providing an extremely broad range of camera support in a single underwater monitor system. NOTE: This housing comes with an HD-SDI connection pre-installed. Unlike previous 502 models the 502 Bright is only available in one configuration that includes both HD-SDI and HDMI so choose the housing model that is appropriate for your camera, i.e. 17920 for HDMI and 17921 for HD-SDI. CROSS CONVERSION AND PASSTHROUGH The 502 Bright monitor can also function as a passthrough monitor, passing either HDMI or SDI to a surface monitor. The NA-502B housings feature a second M16 opening that can accommodate another HD-SDI or HDMI cable. The SmallHD 502 Bright also features a cross-conversion feature meaning an HDMI input from the camera can be converted to an HD-SDI signal by the monitor and passed through a second bulkhead to a surface monitor. HD-SDI can travel over longer distances making this ideal for surface monitoring even from a camera that only features HDMI output. Nauticam HD-SDI Cable Accessories provide a reliable way of transporting a video signal over long distances. Accessory Ports Front Top: 1 x M16 pre-installed with 25625 Vacuum Valve II Rear Bottom: 1 x M16 (normally used for 25028 M16 SDI Bulkhead for SDI-out)

Atomos Shinobi 5.2" 4K HDMI Underwater Housing with SDI-Imput by Nauticam
THE ATOMOS SHINOBI   The Atomos Shinobi 4K HDMI and Shinobi SDI are exceptional monitors, featuring a bright 1000 nit 5.2" screen with 10 stops of dynamic range. The monitor includes a variety of exposure and focus assist tools to insure your footage is properly exposed with critical focus.  EXPOSURE TOOLS The Shinobi exposure guides include a Waveform for luminance, RGB Parade for color balance, and Vector Scope for hue and saturation. These tools, especially useful for the underwater filmmaker, allow accurate and fast judging of exposure, even in the most uncooperative lighting scenarios.  FOCUS TOOLS Critical focus can be achieved using various peaking tools. Focus Peaking Color displays the original color image with the sharpest areas outlined in a selectable color. Focus Peaking Mono provides the same overlay but on a monochrome image. Focus Assist Outline shows only the false color outline on a black background of the sharpest areas.   THE NAUTICAM NA-SHINOBI-S UNDERWATER HOUSING The Nauticam NA-Shinobi-S follows suit with the strong foundation Nauticam has built around previous Atomos monitor/recorder housings.  The NA-Shinobi-S supports the Shinobi SDI monitor. The Shinobi is easily mounted in the housing, dropping in without trays or other mounting accessories and is held in place by two rotating locking levers.  The NA-Shinobi supports up to the NP-F970 size battery which provides approximately 4 hours of run time. A CR-2032 battery powers the vacuum check and leak detection system. When used with the included Vacuum Valve, the system gives real-time feedback about the watertight integrity of the housing through an easily visible multi-color LED on the top of the housing. Access to the touchscreen controls of the Shinobi are handled via a series of buttons and a selector knob beneath the screen of the housing.
